“Very nice”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

Stayed for one night over the Australia Day long weekend.
What a lovely place. We checked in a little early, our room wasn't ready so they upgraded us to a room overlooking the tee area for the 10thHole. Cost was $289 for 1night accommodation, breakfast, choice of golf and cart or spa treatment for 2. When I rang I was quoted $239 but I didn't ask for a confirmation email so I had no proof. It was still worth the extra. No free internet.
Reception was so friendly and helpful, a delight.
We were allotted room 241 and what a lovely room. They call them pods and each has 11 units in them. Five rooms on two levels and one on top. Two rooms are then in a small foyer which has another door that can be locked making it interconnecting rooms. (If that makes sense)
You walk into the room it looks lovely and roomy. One big room with combined lounge/dining and kitchen. Decorated tastefully it has all you could need even to stay for a week or more. It has a well equipped kitchen that has everything you could need. Dishwasher, microwave, oven, stove and full size fridge and all the essentials you need for cooking. There is also a large pantry which holds a washing machine, small laundry tub bench and iron. No drier, but one of those small portable fold out types.
My only complaint is the uncomfortable lounges. Just so hard and rigid. Lots of soft lighting. Tv in lounge and bedroom along with a micro sound system. Air conditioned but also a large double sliding door that leads onto a reasonable size verandah with a out door table and chair setting.
Bathroom is large. With hairdryer and basic toiletries. It has a shower in the bath something I'm not too keen on and there is no sign of any mould or mildew, an A++ in my opinion.
Bedroom also has airconditioning and a large sliding door and verandah over looking the carpark. Bed is double size and small if used to sleeping in a king size bed and quite firm with plenty of pillows. There is a large wardrobe and set of drawers with a tv so you can watch in bed.
It's such a lovely place to stay.
Breakfast had a variety of foods. Cereals with dried fruits. Yogurts and Bircher muselii and fresh seasonal fruits. Hot food selection included eggs, bacon, sausages, grilled tomato, mushroom, potato gems, DIY toast and waffles. You won't go hungry.
We played golf. Being the holiday Monday it was exceptionally slow. The course is in great condition even though most of the water hazards and ponds have almost dried up. Played 13 holes only and look forward to going again to play 18. If you don't hit straight make sure you bring along plenty of balls, you will need them. A challenging course which is flat and would be easy walking.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it over its opposition down the road at The Entrance.

Room Tip: Room 241 overlooking 10th tee.

Thank you for the great review. I really do appreciate the effort you have gone to detail your stay with us. Being a natural wetland when it is hot, the water on the golf course can dry up but hopefully we get some rains shortly and see the course return to its beautiful best. I hope to welcome you back at a later date.

Regards

Dan

Stayed for one night after travelling from North America. The Mercure provided us with a good night's rest after a long journey. Rooms are big, include a full kitchen and patio. Was clean and bed was comfortable. Also right beside a golf course that has a nice restaurant with good food.

Had an enjoyable short break at the hotel with our family of 4. The facilities were great with a very family friendly precinct of pools, spa and a playground. The 2 bedroom apartment was huge and very well appointed. Dinner was great with the fresh cobs hitting the spot perfectly and our young kids made to feel welcome. My wife enjoyed a spa treatment although that is run independent to the hotel. Breakfast was nothing to get excited about except the nespresso machine which was a nice touch that I wish more hotels would embrace.
Only a few minor negatives:
1. The television system was slow with a tiny tv (compared to many other hotels) in the lounge area. The channels were not in widescreen making it a little annoying to watch sport.
2. The 2 queen beds were comfy but not very practical with a couple and 2 kids.
3. The hotel should have a marked pedestrian crossing from the apartment side to the pool precinct.
4. Some towel should be placed in the pool area OR it made clear that pool towels are stored in the laundry cupboard.
Whilst these are only small 1st world issues, it is the little touches that can make all the difference.

Overall we had a great break and would definitely recommend it to other people.

Room Tip: All apartments are away from the main building. They all were a slight walk away from the pools and...

We stayed for 3 nights at the Mercure Kooindah Waters in January 2014 in a 1 bedroom apartment. This was a large, well fitted-out apartment on the first floor overlooking the golf course. No complaints whatever with the room. We had an excellent buffet breakfast in the resort each morning. We also had an excellent dinner in the resort restaurant one evening. Service in the restaurant was excellent. I played golf once during our stay. The golf course is beautifully maintained and quite challenging with lots of water hazards. The location of the resort is good, as it provides easy access to explore the coast north and south of The Entrance. Highly recommended, especially for golfers.
