“Weekend Getaway”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2011

We stayed here for a weekend getaway for our wedding anniversary. We stayed in room 303 which is a large room with a queen bed, fireplace and jacuzzi. The room was clean. The good: Large room, flat screen tv, nice sitting area and nice view of Broadway from the windows. The bad: smell of mold or mildew in the bathroom. It was quite strong and may be due to a previous leak somewhere. This is neat old hotel that has been restored nicely. We will probably stay again, but try to avoid this room due to the smell in the bathroom.

The right expectations will determine how well you enjoy this hotel. It is, very simply, a 19th century hotel that has been carefully renovated but still has the bones of an old building. Our room was very clean and was very tastefully restored to the Victorian era. Everything worked in the room and the furniture was authentic, although not antique.

Keeping mind that this is an old structure, not every room has a balcony and a view. Our room had one window that looked into an alley, which was perfectly acceptable in 1850. It took some getting used to but the size and other charms in the room helped counter the lack of view. The only negatives about our room were a very small bathroom and the sound of the old elevator, which resonates through many of the rooms. My suggestion is to not book online... call the front desk and ask very specific questions about the location and layout of the room you are reserving.

The balcony over looking Broadway is quite pleasant and the old photographs adorning the walls really provide a sense of heritage about the hotel and the town. The hotel is the center of activity on busy weekends so if you want a quiet getaway, you might try their second building. You can't beat the location of the main hotel as everything is a short walk from it, including one of the best biking and walking trails in the eastern US.

The staff tries hard to please its guests and the adjoining restaurant and tavern added to the enjoyment of our stay. Parking in Jim Thorpe comes at a premium but the inn provides a space for all guests. Just follow their rules.

We will come back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Call the front desk and ask about the room location and views.

My wife and I had planned on staying here for 2 nights...Due to a family emergency, we left one day early...The folks here were so gracious, they were able to rent our room to someone else , and only charged us for the 1 night, eventhough there was a 2 night minimum...I am very thankful for this and will definately come again! Also, the restaurant on site, The Broadway Grill was delicious for both a late night dinner and for breakfast.. CUDOS to all of you...

Third time staying at the inn. The best thing the inn has going for it is that it is in the center of town, service is the weakest. Rooms are just okay at the inn and need some renovations. This time my wife are staying at the inn's owned 55 And Broadway. Rooms much nicer than the inn but was disappointed that there were no fitted sheets available 'anywhere in the inn. Someone brought us extra flat sheets for a queen bed, not the king we were in, and when I re-asked about the sheets she chuckeled and said no.
Then, my wife and I went to the inn's owned Broadway restaurant for a drink. When we asked the Host for a table he showed us to the bar area. When he saw that there were no tables in the bar available he indicated that there was one stool available at the bar and just walked away without any other acknowledgement...we walked right out. I selected that I would recommend this hotel because of the location.

I truly can't say enough about how great our experience was here! The town is charming and the hotel and it employees are wonderful! Our room was clean and cozy....it even had a keurig! We booked the rafting trip through the hotel and that was wonderful too. Sitting on the balcony was a relaxing way to enjoy my morning coffee....great people watching. Overall a great trip! The only minor drawback (if there even had to be one) was the food at the hotel. Breakfasts were good, but the dinner didn't seem very fresh. I think my fish was frozen because it was still ice cold inside, also very bland :( They should stick to burgers & bar food maybe....
Regardless, I will definitely be back!!!

Once again another perfect stay at the inn. I called the Inn directly to make our reservation and spoke to Gen who is always so friendly and professional. I had called to book a standard room, but when she pointed out what we could get for an extra $20.00 I couldn't believe it. For a total of $238.00 tax included, we received two nights accommodation in a room facing the front of the hotel with a view of the shops on Broadway, a $30.00 per person voucher for dinner one night, and two $7.00 per person vouchers for breakfast each morning. The vouchers are used at The Broadway Grille and Pub which is attached to the Inn. The food there is excellent and I reviewed it here on trip advisor separately. We arrived at the inn around 3:00pm and were checked in by Carol she is so professional and so very friendly. It's just amazing to me how friendly the staff at this inn is. It's obvious they all enjoy their jobs. We went up to our room (#211-"the haunted room") and as always it was very clean and tidy.
There is a Keurig coffee machine in the room with a selection of coffee and tea, ice bucket, glasses and in the bathroom there are hand soaps, makeup removing wet naps, and in the shower a dispenser with shampoo, conditioner, and bath soap. The room itself is decorated very nicely with rich looking bedding and antique looking furniture in dark wood tones. I also noticed that the white fluffy towels in the bathroom were made here in America which I LOVED! When do you ever find anything made here? We really like the location of the room. We had two large windows that looked out over Broadway and the second story balcony and we had the shades pulled up most of the time to enjoy the view. We used the balcony all the time during our stay and especially loved sitting out in the evening enjoying a glass of wine and talking with the other guests. We feel that this is a great amenity and unfortunately we heard that the inn may set up dining out there which would of course take away the rocking chairs and ruin this lovely setting. It's so nice to just sit and rock and watch the world go by on Broadway below or just read a newspaper or book. I hope they don't do it. Anyway, the inn is located right on Broadway near all the shops and there are many dining options and attractions nearby. The perfect place to stay in Jim Thorpe!

My sister and I stayed at the Inn on Sept. 13th. I wanted to take my sister to Jim Thorpe, PA because it is such a wonderful, quaint little town with alot of history. I found a great deal on their website for our mid-week stay. We had a suite which was beautiful and our stay included dinner and breakfast. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved exploring the Inn and looking at all the photos displayed. We also took a tour of the Asa Parkard Mansion which we enjoyed so much. Walked all around the town and checked out all the unique stores along the main streets. I have already told several friends about this place and suggested that they take a trip to Jim Thorpe and stay at the Inn. Awesome Place!!!!!
