This bike shop is right in downtown Jim Thorpe. They offer a wide variety of outdoor activities, and we chose a 15 mile bike ride on the Lehigh Gorge Rail-Trail. They shuttle you and your rented bike to a point on the mountain and then you bike back down to Jim Thorpe. It was only about $40. What a fabulous trail! Even if you aren't an avid biker you can do this! The path is very smooth gravel, no rocks or bumps at all. You're definitely going downhill but it's only a 2 degree slope so you aren't hurtling downhill. You need to pedal, or you'd stop- mostly because of the friction of the tires on gravel- but you aren't pedaling hard at all. Of course those of you who are bike racers or just really ambitious can pedal as fast as you like- but the scenery is so lovely that a nice leisurely trip is just as nice. The Lehigh River is on your left almost all the way down, trees, wild rhododendrons, rock formations, rail trestles, bridges, a waterfall- so much to look at that you have to remember to look where you're going! There are spots with picnic tables if you want to bring a lunch. Or, you can just stop and sit by the side and enjoy the view. There are no bathrooms on the trail although there is one at the trailhead. Needless to say there are no snack bars so bring water or whatever you like (or available at the storefront or downtown). You are offered a helmet but in PA you don't have to wear one if you're over 12. Our trip, taken in the Fall in peak leaf season, was breathtaking. We took our time, pedaled constantly but leisurely, and we did the 15 miles in about 2 1/2 hours. The shuttle leaves at different times so check ahead. We rode on a Thursday so the trail was quite empty of others. I'm sure that on weekends it's more crowded. It was an easy trail to follow except for one tricky turn that we missed- quickly realized our mistake and turned around. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an adventure that they don't have to train for. We'll be doing this again!

Sending a big thank you to trip guides April, Logan, Nicole, and sue for a fantastic day in the poconos on 10/5. This staff worked their tails off to ensure that everyone had a great time. For a novice pocono visitor, this trip brings out the best in the people and scenery. Definitely a "must do" event.

We did the Battles & Paddles... so we rafted in the morning. We got awesome weather. The ride was beautiful & if you keep your raft close to a guide, you get some pretty cool stories along the way. The guides were so knowledgeable & friendly. It was a great experience. We can't wait to go back. If you like adventure, call & find out when there's a dam release, go for that, it will be totally worth it!

Had the best time on the Big Day Out this past Saturday! Our guides, Tony, Scott and Rich were so knowledgeable and friendly it made this slightly nervous Nelly relaxed enough to completely enjoy a very eventful and challenging day.
They fed us (breakfast, lunch and dinner), drove us (in a big yellow school bus) entertained us (some funny jokes and cute stories along the way), looked out for us (one guide in the front one in the middle and one at the end) and made sure we all had a safe and fun day.
Please don’t pass this trip up because of some other bad reviews. I felt completely safe the entire trip. Unlike some other reviews stated, we were offered bike helmets, and were required to wear life vests in the water. At no point did I feel unsafe or worried about getting hurt.
Just keep in mind that this is a strenuous trip, lots of peddling, and paddling, but if you’re in somewhat decent shape, you will be able finish the day and enjoy the challenge, just as I did.
I am looking forward to next year’s Big Day Out!!
