This was my first time whitewater rafting and it was quite an experience! The Lehigh River was really beautiful. The equipment was in OK condition, our raft had a small hole in it and was told it was no big deal. Hmmm? We brought our own life vests since my husband has done this before and complained of mildew on rented equipment. I overheard another rafter complaining about this very thing (she had rented a windbreaker and told her husband there was no point in going back to get another because they were all like that. Ew!) Back on track... We had fun rafting down the river, our guides were very nice and the bus rides were short. My biggest complaint would be that there were just too many rafts in the group. We spent more time bumping into other rafts (and rafters) that actually riding rapids. There were a few chances to hop out into the water while waiting for rafts that got behind, though once we saw a big snake in the water, we decided to stay in the raft! We alerted the guide who tried to see what kind of snake it was but it had swam into a crack in the wall. He didn't feel the need to tell any of the people who jumped in the water right there a few minutes later. This is nature and I'm sure it's fairly standard to have snakes all over, but I know if I was the one splashing around I would have liked to know! Overall, they were very organized and we enjoyed ourselves. There were plenty of reservation times and lots of customers... perhaps they should take out smaller groups! They would make a few less dollars but have happier customers willing to pay a little more to not be herded down the river with a giant group!
