“Lehigh Gorge Railway”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We were excited about seeing the river. It was a lot of $$ though for the short trip. They didn't go up into the gorge much though. Open air cars were nice, but no one could hear any of the narration which I really had wanted to hear. $18 per adult for the 1 hour open air ride - 30 mins up and the some sights for 30 mins back. It was okay, just not my favorite thing in the Poconos.

“Relaxing and great for kids into trains”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

If you have kids or grandkids that grew up in the Thomas the Train era, this is is a relaxing way to get them a train fix. For history buffs its a great journey into the past. Beautiful scenery, and if you don't get the opportunity to ride the rails like they did in the old days, your opportunities are rapidly declining, so I'd grab this trip if you are in the Jim Thorpe area for some rest and recreation. Got grandma along? Get a first class ticket and ride in comfort. The kids can sit outside on the tail-board while you sit in a comfy chair indoors.

“Probably best during the fall foilage season.”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

We went on an overcast day, so a little chilly. A ride on a hot day would be nice too. The cars are very clean, lots of room, knowledgeable guides. Like most tourist trains, the train goes out for so far, and then comes back on the same track, so you aren't seeing anything different on the return trip. Tourist info and clean public restrooms at the train station. Parking at the public lot on a recent Saturday was $10, but you could walk to the historical sites and restaurants from there.

“Enjoy the ride!”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

What a great way to see some of the countryside and take a ride into the past-enjoy and make sure you sit on the side of the railway car with the view! Take the open air car in the summer months!
