We went on an overcast day, so a little chilly. A ride on a hot day would be nice too. The cars are very clean, lots of room, knowledgeable guides. Like most tourist trains, the train goes out for so far, and then comes back on the same track, so you aren't seeing anything different on the return trip. Tourist info and clean public restrooms at the train station. Parking at the public lot on a recent Saturday was $10, but you could walk to the historical sites and restaurants from there.

What a great way to see some of the countryside and take a ride into the past-enjoy and make sure you sit on the side of the railway car with the view! Take the open air car in the summer months!

Fun hour-long trip through the park. Length of the trip is just about right. Beautiful views along the way. Recommended.

We took the open-air car... worth the slightly increased fee... just a few bars along the sides.

This is a nice, short trip that gives you a chance to get away from the Jim Thorpe crowds and sit down for an hour. Much of the scenery is obscured by trees but it is still a pleasant trip. A word of caution. If you are not there at least a half hour before the trip, do not purchase the 1st class section. There are a limited number of seats in the back (livingroom) and once those are full you end up in rather uncomfortable diningroom chairs. Also, you must walk over several others to get to the viewing platform (while the train is moving). Better off to settle for the standard seats that are more comfortable, less crowded and half the price. Also, sit on the right side of the train. That is where all the views are.

We took this one hour, open air train ride on the first day of June, a gorgeous day in Jim Thorpe. Our attentdant was David, who looked every inch the train conductor and was very helpful to us, chatting with us and giving us a couple of area maps. The train ride itself was nice, not thrilling, but fun. It slowly chugs over its tracks past the river and to a point where it stops, the engine uncouples, then backs up and recouples onto the rear of the train to pull it back. The little ones onboard that day were really enjoying the ride, shouting "Yay" and "awsome!" I couldn't hear anything that the tour guide was saying over our speaker so I just focused on taking pictures and the scenery. It must be really nice in the fall with the foliage.
