There's so much to say about Tony Stella's Encore in Jim Thorpe. My wife and I love Jim Thorpe, but had never eaten at Tony Stella's. It was a weekend away for us, and we figured "why not?" We booked reservations online for 6:30 PM. We arrived at 6:25 PM and were promptly seated. The maitre d' (I'll give you a hint, it's Tony) reviewed the specials for the evening, and checked back often (but not too frequently) to make sure everything was going well. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant. It is an old Victorian home converted to a restaurant. Very nice, very quaint, but not cramped.
The beer list is extensive, the cocktails were mixed perfectly, the service was outstanding. We both ordered the fillet stuffed with lobster tail. Although we ordered medium steaks, and they came out more medium well than medium, it's not enough to take away from this restaurant. Service was prompt, and friendly. There was some wait for the food, but it wasn't unreasonable, and it is what is expected when food is cooked to order, and not sitting on a hot table waiting for a home.
I cannot comment on desserts. We were satiated from the entrees alone, and didn't want to over do it. We were offered an after dinner drink complements of Tony. Again, we passed. Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner, and my wife and I are looking forward to returning soon!
