“Fabulous Weekend!”
Reviewed November 11, 2009

We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Gilded Cupid. Sheila's warm welcome started our weekend and it only got better from there! She gave us lots of tips on where to go and what to do, and recommended some wonderful restaurants. Bob shared lots of tips on hiking the falls and we really enjoyed learning about the history of Jim Thorpe. The town is lots of fun - we saw a great show at the Opera Houseand enjoyed some wonderful meals. We couldn't have asked for a better anniversary weekend.

Coming back to work after a week-end at this place was really hard. The set was perfect for a romantic getaway close to Mother Nature. Sheila and Bob are amazing hosts, sharing with you their love for the history and the activities of the area, and possibly one of the best breakfast experience you have ever had. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in need of a real escape.

First of all let me say that Bob and Sheila are fabulous innkeepers!! Breakfast was over the top both mornings, it was very well thought out and the presentation was just as great as the taste. Sheila takes alot of pride in her cooking and it shows...They offered great conversation, helped with directions to local places, suggestions for dinner and Bob even went out of his way to phone the place we planned to travel that day to ensure they were open. They are working on restoring the home and my husband and I loved the garden in the back. Alot of thought has gone into making this bed and breakfast feel like home away from home. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linens were so soft. We had a great weekend and will definately be back.

We couldn't have been happier with our decision to stay at the Gilded Cupid. It is located on the main drag in Jim Thorpe but is a block or so up (literally) from the center of town so it is nice and quiet. The room we stayed in (Bev's Room) was very clean, decorated with handsome antiques and boasted an extremely large bathroom that contained an antique sink and claw foot tub with modern plumbing (awesome water pressure). The bathroom also had a couch and was about as big as the bedroom which was very nice. Both rooms had 12 foot ceilings and were very clean.

The exterior of the house has a really neat historical look to it. They have a cozy upstairs porch which guests can access through a library on the second floor. The view is of the Broadway St, which makes for good people watching.

Breakfast was served in their dining room which has good ambiance and is very comfortable. A tasty, fresh, gourmet breakfast was served with pride by Shelia as Bob maintained bottomless cups of coffee and OJ. We did not leave that room hungry.

Bob and Shelia couldn't have been any more helpful during our stay. They were very willing to help us with directions and make suggestions about where to dine/shop/hike,etc. They also chilled champagne for us and let us use their own glasses and an old antique champagne bucket. That was really nice.

I felt that the experience was well worth the price (which was is in line with prices of other places in town). We felt like we were treated as though we were visiting family and that is pretty rare in my travel experiences so far. Highly recommend.

Our stay from the very beginning was warm, relaxing, and enjoyable. Our hosts, Bob & Shelia were the greatest! They both made sure our needs were met. Shelia is a wonderful cook and provided great breakfasts. We enjoyed the many conversations with Bob & Sheila. We look forward to our next visit.

No sign out front; try finding the place! Clean, but threadbare carpets & dark dingy overall appearance. No TV, phone, clock or coffee maker in room. No late night snacks/kitchen privileges. No bathroom door. No early check-in. Gourmet breakfast the only plus.

It was my wife's birthday and I looked to surprise her with a 2 day / 1 night trip. Both of us have been moving so fast lately it was also an opportunity to slow things down. Jim Thorpe was the destination and the Gilded Cupid the B&B. Without question a perfect location right in the middle of town. Easy walk to the shops.

All I can say is Bob and Sheila are exceptional hosts. They wer both just so friendly, inviting and warm people. There sole purpose was to ensure our stay was enjoybable. They provided a perfect balance of conversation and separation. Meaing they were there for a casual talk and gave you your space all in the same visit.

They provided suggestions on where to eat (Flow was great), some basic guidance on our walk through town , or as we were interested pointed us in the direction for a hike on a walking trail.

The place is beautiful and only getting better (they are actively working on improvements and expansion - Don't take that to mean construction sounds or dust - the beauty of the 1st and 2nd floors is well established.)

My wife already wants to go back and so do I.
