“Beautiful View with Great Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

Want to get a bit to eat after a long drive?
Well stop here or better yet drive to it.
Great service, smiling faces, beautiful view and no rushing you out the door.
The food was served hot and everyone's lunch was fresh and delicious.
The rice pudding was the best.
Can't wait to go back and maybe catch a concert too.
Vince Gill in February.
Oh and the price was very reasonable too.

“Breathtaking views”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

A large group of us stopped here for lunch. The views are so worth it---just gorgeous and totally worth a visit there. We only had lunch and it was a fun place to eat. It was a bit chilly so I ordered there soup of the day. It arrived "luke warm." It was good but I wanted hot soup not warm. The service was decent for a large group, and the food is reasonablye priced so I thought. We mostly had burgers and they were fine. I would recommend a visit here for lunch. $2.00 drafts as well and a very nice drink menu if one is interested. I would return.

“Fun place to eat!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

We stopped at Roadies for lunch on our way to visit the town of Jim Thorpe. It is located at Penn's Peak and there is a beautiful view from the parking lot and the deck of the restaurant. The decor is fun. Lots of rock and country memorabilia of celebrities which have appeared at Penn's Peak. The menu has tons of items on it. We chose tastey chicken sandwiches which were grilled to perfection. There were so many burgers, sandwiches, and entrees to choose from. Also a large drink menu. I had their signature frozen hard lemonade. which was very good. They also have a large beer selection and a huge martini list. The wait for food was a little long the day we were there but they give you a basket of wonderful potato chips to hold you over. I would recommend Roadies for a fun place to dine!

“Million dollar view,”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

What a lovely spot to put a restaurant, the perfect mountianside overlook. The deck looks out over the valley and the view is breathtaking. We were however, very disapppointed in the food. I started with loaded perogies as an appetizer, different and good. Butter and onion sauce and cheese with bacon bits, tasty and unusual fare. I also had a rum runner cocktail which was way too strong and over powering. I ordered a turkey burger which I asked for on a kaiser roll. No cheese, no mayonnaise, overcooked and served on a dry hamburger bun. They had cold french fries and cole slaw as a side. All in all, we were disappointed in a meal that had so much potential. We waited for quite a while to have our order taken and while were were waiting my husband went to the rest room for wet paper towels to re-wipe the "clean" but tacky table. As much as I wanted this to be a great experience, I cannot tell a lie, it was mediocre at best. Probably will not go back to Roadies again.

“The view is all they have going for them”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

My group of 8 dined at Roadies on a Saturday night. When we pulled up the view took our breath away, we were all ready to love the whole experience. We had called about 30 minutes before getting there, we were walking through Jim Thorpe and our first choice for dinner had a long wait, we were told "we are not busy, just come over-you don't need a reservation". We did say we were on our way, once again, stressing 8 people. As I stated, the view was great, we took pics, etc. then walked in. We were pleasantly surprised that they were less than half full for dinner. We waited around 20 minutes, but we were ok with that assuming they were waiting for a large table to open. When we walked to our table we saw two more large tables also empty. Ok, we didn't say anything but we all sat waiting for drink order to be taken. We were busy talking and realized we were there sitting for 25 minutes before anyone even came for drink order-we had to stop a waitress walking by for this service. Five minutes later our server came to the table and said "you are my 2nd big table" we assumed this was her reason for not making it over to us. Not an apology-just a statement that we were her 2nd big table. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees-not knowing when she would be back. Someone approached us from the "2nd big table" and asked how we got her to come for a drink order since they still had not been approached. So there goes her "excuse". We waited another 40 minutes for appetizers. At this point it was after 9:00 (closing time) and we were not sure if we left that we would find an open restaurant. Another waitress came into our room-as soon as the appetizers came out and turned off all of the TV's! Some of the men in our party were watching a game on the TV, she just turned and walked away-the other "large" party laughed with us at how crazy this was. After yet another 30 minutes our food started arriving, 2 of the orders wrong-with the waitress telling one of the people in our party how he ordered it. He took it and just ate. The other wrong order made her take it away, he said just make sure it is off the bill-I don't even want it at this point. We tried to justify that they MAY have had a few people call out sick, maybe there was a problem in the kitchen, etc. When we asked the waitress if there was a problem, she again said she "had two big tables". When the other table heard this they chimed in, it was a running joke between us all...but for the money spent, not really funny! She never once apologized, came over with manager, etc. she just acted as if this was totally acceptable. First we assumed because she had a guaranteed tip with 8 people that her service did not matter. But, when the person in our party told her to make sure she took his entree off the meal-he also stated that there were seven people dining at the table and to make sure it was noted. She immediately approached us and apologized. Shame that the view is wasted on a place with such poor service.
