Definetly worth a visit if you are in Wingham. Interesting artifacts and great for kids to see items from bygone days.

“Well worth the visit”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

This is a very interesting small local museum, full of exhibits displaying the history of the area. The entrance fee is very reasonable.

The staff were very helpful.

A visit here can be combined with a visit to the equally interesting Wingham Brush Reserve

“Lots of interesting artifacts from days gone by”

In an old historic building..has loads of old things to see. Run by volunteers who do a great job of dressing up the old windows with changing themes

“Loads of things to show the teenagers”
Reviewed January 16, 2012

Great little place, has loads of old things that the kids wouldnt get a chance to see. loads of old photos from a very long time ago. Very cheap to enter. $7 a family. They also have the jail cell of Jimmy the last Australian bush ranger and the story about him. Its also an information centre for the town.

“Excellent museum even if railway and transport history omitted”
Reviewed June 7, 2010

Unlike many museums in country towns, this one is not only located right in the centre of Wingham with convenient daily opening hours, but it also has extremely well arranged and comprehensive exhibits in which obvious care has been and continues to be taken.

The themed pioneers' room display was especially good and lifelike.

Admission costs of $3 per adult were reasonable and about what I expected to pay.

There was, however, one major omission. I could not find any display relating to the extrenely important Sydney to Grafton and later (by the 1930s) extension to Brisbane. The railway has been and with its Countrylink XPT services (two out of three daily trains stop at Wingham each way) continues to be important in the life of the town and of other cities and towns along the scenic North Coast of NSW, so why weren't there photos of trains through the years, from steam to diesel to railcars and including freight trains including the 1400 metre intercapital freight trains of today and the famous North Coast Mail of yesteryear where the mail was sorted on board and passengers left Sydney late at night?
