“Even got a free cooking lesson!”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

Stayed at the Bank Guest House over night. Had a great night sleep in a toasty warm room in a very comfy bed. Loads of room, including a cute little kitchen and a large bathroom. Endless hot water, which I love and great water pressure. Breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend the poached eggs. I was even given a cooking lesson on how to poach an egg!! How is that for grear customer service. Would definitely stay here again. Just lovely.

We stayed as a group of four couples for an annual catch-up. The owner was a little abrupt during the booking process but ok. We were dismayed to find on checking in that three couples were accommodated in the lovely guest house but one couple relegated to the daggy, cold outdoor flat while on-site minders were using the other guest room. Dinner was unavailable in the restaurant but a lovely breakfast was provided the next morning. It's a lovely building and the minders were very keen to please. The facilities provide everything you need for a nice winter getaway.I'd recommend a stay but ensure your rooming is clarified beforehand.

The Bank Guest House was a real 'Gem' of a find. The owner Bev was very hospitable and looked after us extremely well. I really enjoyed the warm and welcoming feel to this place where we felt right at home. The food was delicious and plentyful and the rooms spacious and comfortable. We felt very relaxed after our stay and will definitely return.

We stayed in the hotel for one evening. The hotel is a recently refurbished old bank. Stepping into the front courtyard was like stepping into a new little world away from the main country street and makes the hotel seem very private. The refurbishment is well done making for a comfortable night stay. Our room size and common spaces downstairs were generous. There was also a range of DVDs we could select from to watch in our room. The owner suggested we try the Australian Hotel for dinner and drinks, the corner pub 2 doors up the road. The food was substantially sized and delicious. The morning breakfast was standard, cooked breakfast or uncooked homemade mueslis, and was very tasty. We recommend making the 15 minute drive from the highway for a night's stay.

You can't go past The Bank. We're staying here for work regularly at the moment, the food and accommodation are fantastic. The accommodation is the converted manager's residence with period furnishings.
Bev is wonderful - "call me when you leave the airport" so she can get dinner ready. I'm going to have to down-size to entrees or this project is going to make me fat (but happy)!

Room Tip: Room 3 has the original (renovated) bank manager's bathroom. The others have new ensuites instal...

From the outset, had excellent communications with Bev, who managed our booking. We were looking for a dog-friendly stay (have two small indoor dogs) to break up a trip between Sydney and Brisbane. We were a little concerned upon entering Wingham that the accomodation might not be great (nice area, but not alot happening in town), however we were hugely surprised by the comfortable, character-filled building that is the Bank Guest House. We stayed in the cottage, which is at the back of the residence. It was quaint, quiet, and had everything we could need for our nights stay. Extremely comfortable bed, and slept very well. The dogs had free run of the backyard, which was excellent. Unfortunately, we were only there for the one night, and could not take advantage of the DVD and boardgame library. However, we were fortunate enough to have the hot cooked breakfast, which was as good as any decent cafe you'd find it Sydney, and significantly cheaper too!

We only walked through the main-house to eat in the restaraunt, but overall impression is very tasteful, spotless, character property - we assume the boarding inside the main house is as good as that in the back cottage. However, only the cottage is dog friendly.
