“Well worth it! For the wildlife alone.”

This is one boat ride my 7yr old will never forget. We saw birds, got to have a fish, tried pumping for bait, pulled up crab pots and enjoyed delicious mudcrab feast at the end. As well as an oyster educational talk at the end. Very interesting.

“Good fun, Good Food & Lotsa yummy oysters!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

I've heard about this from a fellow colleague and decided this is the activity we should do for the group. I turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip as everyone enjoyed it. We started the tour feeding the Pelicans before cruising to our 1st spot for yabby pumping. Most of us go down to serious business as we race to catch as many yabbies as possible. Next stop is the real deal as we haul in crabs which were bigger than our face! Final stop was fishing which wa a little disappointing as we didn't get much fishes.
We cruise back to land and there was more excitement just before lunch as there was a final crab race competition where each team cheer for their crab to be the 1st to crawl out of the circle.
Lunch was awesome as we had seafood platter with oysters and crab!

This is a place for good team bonding and also good food to end of the tour.

“Early bird catches the worm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

We arrived at 8.30am and were invited to feed the abundance of fish before we boarded the boat.Take a towel and wear board shorts or swimmers and be prepared to get wet if you want to try your hand at pumping for yabbies in the shallow water. The skipper and hostess were very obliging. The best time to go is in the morning when there are numerous pelicans that you can feed with fish. You have the opportunity to haul in a crab trap and try your hand at fishing. We had so much fun! Although we didn't stay back at the pretty restaurant by the river for lunch, we sampled the tasting plate of crab and natural oyster on board and this was definitely a delicious taste sensation!

“Wonderful experience and food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

We (grandma and three kids)went in March 2013 and had a fabulous time. We booked the tour through the internet two days before and the response was quick. Before we boarded, we were handed insect repellent which we sprayed generously all over us.Then the kids started feeding bread to the fish while we waited to board.
On board, we were assigned seats and had complmentary biscuits , tea and coffee. Pelican feeding started next and each of us had about 2-3 small fishes to throw to them. Then the boat started moving off.
Yabbie pumping was next. The boat stopped us at this little river and we got off barefoot into the waters .The water was knee deep .We started pushing this pump into the waters and pulling up the yabbies into a sieve with the sand. The kids basically had no strength to do this but they still had a lot of fun. Back to the boat and they had water and towels for us to wash off.
The hauling of the crab traps were next and each of them had one or two crabs in them. We were then given an opportunity to take a photograph with the crabs.
The most fun part came next. We hooked small prawns and yabbies onto our fishing rods and boy did we have a whale of a time catching the fish. Though the fish must be I think 27 cm before you can keep them, we caught about four each rod and had to throw them back mostly into the mouths of pelicans who hovered around the boat. Fabulous fun !
The oyster farm talk came next . One lucky person got to taste the freshly opened oyster.
Lunch was served in the little restaurant on land. Delicious and succulent. Highly recommended.
Definitely worth every cent that we paid for.

“great morning!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

My friends and I recently attended catch a crab, on a dark gloomy morning. Even though it was raining as though we were in a monsoon season we had such a wonderful time and never regret attending!

For the price you pay, there are plenty of activities starting with feeding the hungry pelicans, getting out of the boat and learning to catch yabbies (yep even in the pouring rain), pulling crabs nets onto the boat and then learning about all the crabs and getting to hold and take a picture with them. They then take you fishing, using the yabbies you have just caught or like me you can just use frozen prawns which are supplied for you. The morning finishes with a trip to the oyster farm with a very informative session about the life of oysters. From there we had lunch at the restaurant where the food and crab was outstanding.

All the staff there was so friendly and amazing and were so helpful and easy to talk to! I would highly recommend this very innovative activity to everyone rain, hail or shine. It will be something you will be talking about to your friends for a very long time!
