Thank you for your comments and information. The Trip Adviser service has not been used by previous management at the Beachcomber. There is now new Management in place and we intend to use the service closely to ensure we are getting realistic feedback and also so we can respond to issues in a professional and diligent manner.
We have discussed your concerns and would appreciate it if you could email reservations @thebeachie.com.au direct so we can send you a long overdue offer. Please mention the Trip Adviser page as a reference. With the new management there is also a new plan and there is plenty of great changes underway, I am sure our reservations team will explain.
Finally thank you for your feedback & hopefully you will allow us an opportunity to change your initial review impression of the Hotel.

We only stayed here as we attended a party in the function room. Couldn't stop making jokes about how crappy it was with my wife.

Lowlights:
Carpets, bed coverings dirty. Duvet was stained
Rooms quite poor condition. Water damaged cabinet
Prehistoric CRT tv with remote bandaged together with Elastoplast
Swamp mixed with spilt grog carpet smell everywhere
Bath/shower tiny, would only fit a midget for a bath
Downstairs bar actually had two midgets at the time having a couple of drinks coincidentally
Cockroaches seen on balcony at night

Highlights:
Nightclub downstairs closed down at half twelve and all was quiet after that
At $100 a night wasn't too expensive
Convienient for on site party

Overall. A massive dive. Sleep in the car or stay someone else

staff is friendly and helpful, but hotel is worn out totally; pool not working due to 'maintenance' in the middle of January !? No access to lake due to pollution ; smelly carpets.... avoid.

My family traveled here for a short stay. Foyer was clean, the front staff helpful and cheery. But the carpets near the lift smelt stale. We booked our family-room online and double checked by phone. When we got there the room they put us in was on the fifth floor facing the concrete car park and road. This room was very daggy and old style furniture an bedding.

We went back down the smelly lift to the receptionist she offered us 2 rooms on the first floor looking onto the pool. We checked them out first. A bit better as they were bright and they had a view. (We did walk through a function room where the men's toilet had some maintenance going on and the floor/carpet was wet and smelly)

We found that once we looked around there was mould found inside the room near the air conditioning duct and the things we found stuck to the lamp shade not funny. Our bed had a spring poking through and I pointed that out to a staff member she did not do anything about it.
Towels are poor quality and so is the bed linen.

The pool area needs a bit more care taken as the paving around the pool is uneven and it did have a few paver's popping up causing a trip hazard. The pool was clean and attended to daily.

The Underground Nightclub is a nightmare!!! You can not swim when it is on. The staff pad-lock the gate so patrons do not come near your apartment. Hence you can not use the pool.
Daylight saving, holidaying you would think that swimming up until 9pm would be doable. Late at night young party goers run up and down the hallway yahooing going back and forth to their rooms.

We went out to dinner and were confronted by security asking where were we going. I explained
to dinner at the venue next door (part of the Hotel). My son had a foot injury and he was on crutches we were harassed as he had thongs on. They ended up getting a second opinion from another security guard and then the manager saw us and he nodded to them to let us in. I was displaying our key to show that we were staying here. After such a hassle we lost our apatite and left. We got into the car and went elsewhere where we were treated properly.

We stayed two nights and the kids were grossed out so much that they asked to leave. They would rather go home. We left and I made a complaint to management they offered us one night free if we wanted to come back.

Once bitten twice shy! NEVER AGAIN!

Given the area, there are heaps of other options around.
It is ok for a night's stop over, but not for a longer term stay. The in house movie channel was good as they play new releases at different hours. However, the TV in the room was analog and did not have digital channels or freeview.

Found a couple of dead small cockroaches in the room. The accommodation is run down & needs work. They did include a packed breakfast bag when we checked in, so that was good.

The bar next door did not bother us too much. The access to the bar area is locked after hours, so also is the hotel entry (unless you have a key).

The room was way over priced for its cleanliness.

Room Tip: Instead of spending twice as much on food at the restaurant / pub within the premises, just opposite...

If you are still young enough to want to drink all night and stagger back to your room and sleep in a bed that you don't care that there are stains on the mattress then this is the place for you. Start the next day with a breakfast pack included in the price and you probably think you have had a great experience. The place is very dirty and so needs a good clean (a pressure washer comes to mind), some decent bedding and crisp linen on the beds (our sheet was that worn it had a hole in it). The price of a night here at this time of the year is the same as a beautiful room in the CBD Sydney. It is a real shame that it has been let go to this poor condition, it would have been a real beauty in its day.

We have stayed in many hotels all over Australia (and in other countries) and this is the first review I feel I have to share, in the hope of saving someone else the poor experience of staying here. I only wish we'd have read the reviews before booking, at least we know now for future bookings.

At 3.5 stars and the rate they charge you expect a certain standard but this hotel shouldn't even have a single star. Old or dated decor is quite acceptable but there is no excuse for filthy. Every area except the reception is really grubby and dirty, room was no exception. Save yourself this experience and book elsewhere.
