“Very average accommodation”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013 via mobile

Dirty rooms, poor service, poor bistro, over priced and no decent parking, the noise travelled through rooms really badly, the location was good though as it is in the village. The area is pretty with close access to snow and river

We stayed at the River Inn Resort in low season. The room was tidy, but I wouldn't say it was clean and the room was noisy. We decided to go to the all you can eat restaurant at the resort for dinner and were very disappointed, the buffet literally consisted of hot chips and battered fish, fried rice and gravy, there weren't any salads or bread rolls. I would not recommend it to anyone. The room was ordinary and definitely not worth the $190 a night we paid!

We booked this place last year thru Groupon website, as a chance to go bike riding around Thredbo in summer, turned out to be cold about 8degs on the Saturday. We arrived on the Friday night just gone, our friends had arrived earlier, and were a bit concerned we wouldnt be happy with our room (We've stayed in Earls Court London, nothing would surprise us!). Troy the owner is very nice and the kitchen staff okay (a little more respect in clothing & hair attire could be good for presentation to guests)
So it wasnt a 4star but it was clean enough and the bathroom was fine, huge king sized bed (2 singles together). Heaters went on straight away as there is no airconditioning. We also could put our bikes in the room for safety.
Breakfast was included, and basic, we had dinner there on the Saturday night...all you can eat for $15.00. Pizza, a pasta, salad and cake, jelly and icecream. It was okay and nice and quiet, husbands got to watch the A-league with no complaints or interruptions
Polished off with a Wild Brumby Butterscotch schnapps (local distillery) from Troy afterwards, (which was great and ended up there on the way home )
The resturant area could really do with a massive cleanup, needs a good dust and wipedown, and a few maintenance repairs in the off season is warrented. The toliets were in need of a clean, as they were not clean or broken
We just assumed that there was no maid service in the off season, which was fine. Hot water took a while to kick in our room.
All in all, it was in a good location, definately 2-3 star, but would probably stay there again

Room Tip: Ride the chairlift and walk to the lookout, make sure you have a warm jacket with you. Bobsled is g...

We needed accommodation with at least 3 beds and had trouble finding places to stay at a reasonable cost. We were happy to find River Inn with a room that could have slept 6.
The room was a good size and well maintained even thought it is an older renovation. I had a King size bed that could split into singles (each with a trundle under it) and the kids slept in the double bunks. With the trundles out there woudl have been limited floor space, but there was plenty for us.
The room included breakfast which was a basic buffet.
The Inn is a short walk to the village centre, while there is a facility to get straight on one of the lifts in the winter.

We stayed at the River Inn for 2 nights over the blues weekend. The room was a good size bathroom clean everything worked. We were abit worried after reading some of the previous reviews but were pleasantly surprised. Troy was soo helpful, we did eat in the dining room one night and that was very average, but then much cheaper than the village. We were able to park the car and walk everywhere, it would be fantastic during the ski season. The noise level was high on the Saturday night but if everyone was considerate of other guests this wouldnt be a problem. Would definitely book here again value for money!!

Troy the owner was awesome and more than happy to assist and the rest of the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and within easy walking distance of the village. Well worth checking out

While we found the room clean and decent, the noise levels were unbelievable. There appears to be absolutely no sound proofing. if you want to listen to your neighbours' conversations all night, this is the place to be. Doors slamming, TVs roaring through the wall, people coming and going all night long, it all sounded like it was happening in the room with us.
