We stayed for 6 nights over christmas with our 2 adult children and had a great time. Our cabin (number 24) was well located overlooking the river and well fitted out and everything worked. The cabin was on the small side but well laid out and even with 4 adults we were not falling over each other. The kitchen is really a one person space - everything you need and enough bench space but narrow. The loft bedroom is narrow with little space between the beds but the adult kids were okay with it.
Cabin was clean and well maintained. Beds, lounge, furniture all good quality and comfortable. The TV worked fine, but we weren't really there to watch television so didn't check out stations and austar. Oven was tricky to operate (lift the 'secret' flap at the top to reveal the on/off switch).
Our only negative experience was on arrival when we found that the freezer door on the fridge had been left open and the freezer was full of ice. Given the time of arrival we couldn't get anyone to fix it but the staff bent over backwards to assist, supplying a large esky and ice within an hour and someone to sort things out the next day.
Something to be aware of is access to these cabins. There is no vehicle access within the cabin complex so depending on which cabin you have you may have many long trips to ferry your gear to and from the car. There a couple of large trolleys that will get you halfway. Other than arrival and departure the distance is not really a problem. One of the photos is a map of the complex to assist with cabin selection.
Thredbo is a great summer destination with lots to do - walks both short and long, including the summit of kosciusko, summer wildflowers, golf, pool, drives to guthega, perisher and charlottes pass. The weather was great with the exception of christmas day which was very cold. We arrived a few days before christmas and the village was quiet (good!); most people arriving on boxing day. Staff everywhere are friendly and helpful.
No problems with flies during our stay! Plenty around, but not a big issue.
- great location near the river
- comfortable and well appointed
- no BBQ
- little on the cramped side
- accessibility from the road
