“Just the thing for a bit of pares”
Review of Candlelight Lodge

Candlelight Lodge
Cuisines: Swiss
Description: ( Winter Only) The fully licensed a la carte restaurant and bar has been part of Thredbo folklore for several decades. We feature both Australian and international cuisine, however, a favourite with our patrons and specialty of the house is fondue. Boasting the same unsurpassed views as the restaurant and your room, the bar has European beers and imported Schnapps and fine Australian wine on offer and for those sometimes important not to be missed occasions we also have ski movies running in the bar. A feature of any stay at Candlelight Lodge is to join the other guests in the bar and on the deck to watch the weekly flare run before fireworks light up the mountain each Saturday at 6pm during the ski season.

“Just the thing for a bit of pares”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

We happened upon the Candlelight looking for a cosy evening with friends & had such a great evening sitting by the fire drinking wine & eating some really good fondue, that we brought our families back for our last evening & took up two big tables. Both times were great memorable nights, made even better by the wonderful bonhomie & great service by the Candlelight hosts. This will definitely be a family tradition for us in future visits. Our littlest loved the playroom/snug when he'd had enough of sitting at the table too. If you're looking for a good family friendly place to eat this is it.

“Fondue fun”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

Kids and adults all loved the fondue. Lots of fun in a cosy, friendly restaurant.
Nice bar for a pre-dinner drinks and the kids had fun tobogganing down the snow on the stairs out the back :)

“OK but needs some work on ventilation”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

The room at the Candlelight Lodge is "quaint" enough to almost convince and the bar area is cosy with a log fire.
Food was fine without being wonderful (although the cheese fondue really suffers from not having authentic European cheese in it which is a shame given this is their speciality). Service was very friendly and efficient.
Our biggest issue was the fact that the entire restaurant, and most of the Lodge it would appear as we exited, suffers from terrible ventilation which meant that as the evening wore on things got smellier and smellier with a real "fug" in the air by the end. If you don't want your clothes smelling like you've been sitting in a commercial kitchen all night I would suggest you go elsewhere.

“Dinner I could make myself”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Rated Poor not because anything was but the food served, I could have got from the deli and made it myself. I didn't need a restaurant that served self-melted cheese to pour over my boiled potatoes and charge me $22 for this.

“Fantastic evening out!”

Just a very enjoyable evening at Candlelight. Had not been here for years and we were extremely happy. Food was lovely, friendly staff and ended the night with a yummy chocolate fondue. Loved it!
