Only bought a hot chocolate here and it was excellent - thick and chocolatey, not thin and weak like some places. Lovely views and the service was good.

Friendly staff here and what a wonderful view!
The hot chocolate with butterscotch schnaaps and the chocolate muffins were a fitting end to a long hike.

I see some of the reviews for this restaurant are a low, however we stopped in for some morning tea prior to doing the summit walk and it was great.
The service was good as was the coffee, drinks and food.
I cannot vouch for the evening meals, but the scones were fresh and my kids loved the chocolate muffin that they ordered.

Looked nice and clean, adequate toilets, wonderful view, great food, fantastic beer, friendly and pleasant service, all on course for a generous tip until ...
Ordered dessert from a rather dopey girl with tattoos, who repeated our order back to us, "one without sauce". 25 minutes later, after having been informed that "They're on their way", we're told that since the desserts are "made automatically", they've had to start again on the "one without sauce" (a chocolate muffin). No hint of an apology. "Look, we're really busy!!" (the restaurant was half empty).
Ruined the afternoon, made us really angry, would've been prepared to overlook the typically Thredbo-esque prices for the sake of a delicious steak sandwich, but apparently courtesy and efficiency are not on the menu.
A real pity.

The Kosciuszko is just as enjoyable in the non-ski season.

We spent 5 days in the Park and one of the highlights was a trip on the Kosi Express chairlift up to the Eagles Nest summit. Spectacular views and still quite a bit of ice around. Temperatures are around zero in spite of it being late October so take a jacket.

Besides the views there is the Eagles Nest restaurant, the highest restaurant in Australia. A nice warm atmosphere and excellent hot chocolate. As the lifts stop at 4pm try and go up early and have lunch before wandering around the summit.

A most enjoyable experience.
