I walked up Mouth Kozciuszko a few months ago. As an experienced hiker it was an easy, peaceful walk. I left early in the morning to avoid crowds, and was glad I did. Even though it was warm at lower altitudes, it was pretty cold once I got higher and I should have been prepared with warmer clothes.

A good way to spend a few hours on a clear and sunny day.

A beautiful park with many outdoor activities. April it starts to get cooler but still great weather for hiking. If you want to walk to the highest point of Australia's highest mountain make sure you bring warm clothing as the chill factor from the strong wind can get high.

We were there pre snow season and did a lot of walking. The park is lovely and clean with great pathways and we were amazed at the diversity of activities on offer. Our only complaint is the price of a chair lift ride to the top of the mountain. You have to buy a day pass and how many times are you going to go up there to see the view and walk around in a day? Great for the downhill mountain bike riders, but a bit of a rip off for the rest of us.

This was the first time I have visited Kosciuszko NP / Thredbo Village out of the ski season. What a beautiful place it is. We walked to the summitt from the Village, taking the Merritts Track up to Eagles Nest. It is a steep climb and a lot of stairs so can be hard on the knees! If you take it at a comfortable pace you'll be fine, it is only 5kms. The walk is beautiful with lookouts over the village. The 13km track from Eagles Nest to the summitt is an easy walk and well pathed the whole way, many families and people of all ages where enjoying the walk. We where lucky and had clear blue skies the whole weekend.
I found the terrain very similiar to the Moors in the SW of England (Devon County) for those of you who are familiar.
As other reviewers have said, pack the sunscreen and layers!
It was a great way to fill in the long weekend and we will definately be back!

We took the chairlift that gives easy access for a walk to a great lookout - 4km return with easy walking on a boardwalk. For those that are fitter a 13 km round trip to Mount Kosciusko and it took us 2.5 hours to the top of Australia. The restaurant at eagles nest is a great stop after you gets back from the walk for a great lunch. The only down fall is that if there is alot of people do except a wait for a table, but it does not take long.
