The building dates from the 20's & is one of the few remaining relatively intact from those days.
Its position, right on the water, is outstanding, & being further around the Channel, enjoys a much quieter aspect than the town proper.
Food is good, but service a bit erratic, & corkage cost exhorbitant.
Locals nights on Thursday are excellent.

Weekend meal for the first time at this venue. Waited at the door for ages for someone to even acknowledge us. Looked about 3/4 full. It was 2ish so not that busy. Told to sit anywhere. No cutlery, condiments, etc. Table sticky. 2 groups came in after us and were promptly seated. They too had no reservations. Tables wiped down and cutlery, etc placed at their tables. Finally we received a menu. The other 2 groups had already had their orders taken. We were right next to the register so pretty easy to see. Finally a waitress came over and I casually mentioned our lack of cutlery or anything. "I'm busy", she barked back! Wow. Great place. So the meals arrived. $26-50 for fisn n chips? Yep. That should give you an idea of what it's like. Prawn linguini for $23. Prawns hadn't been de-veined so sand and crap was part of the meal. Yummo. Had to de-vein the prawns myself. Waitress came over to clean up and asked the usual, "how was it?" "Fair", I said. You don't de-vein your prawns. Nope. But I'll go and tell the chef. Went to pay (you pay at the bar so it's less than a restaurant - in more ways than 1 it seems!). Mentioned the prawns to the bar man. He stated that I was the 2nd person to complain about the prawns and was "going to talk to the chef", as they are supposed to be de-veined. I said that your own staff know the prawns aren't de-veined, so I thought to myself, he's only paying me lip service! So a big 70th coming up for my mum and we thought we'd try this "Maccas by the sea". Unfortunately it wasn't as good as a Maccas for cleanliness, food and service (what's left that a restaurant is there for?), so we arent ever going back. Great view though.

Everything about this restaurant worked for us, a group of 5 who visited on 30 December 2013 (we wanted to go for new years eve but it was fully booked).

The menu is fresh and exciting, with an emphasis on fresh seafood (without over relying on the obvious local fare). It was great to have menu options of either $48 for 2 courses or $58 for 3.

The food was generous and delicious. The pork belly entrée wasexcellent., with a tray Asian salad and the lamb rump on offer as a main was described by one of our group as the best lamb she's ever had.

It doesn't get better than that.

Thank Nick T

Read some bad reviews but thought we give it a try anyway. We had such a great experience we kept going back for breakfast lunch and dinner. Firstly it is located in an excellent spot with water views and breezes. You have indoor and outdoor options and the indoor ceilings are high which helps create a great atmosphere. We found the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. The food was great especially anything related to seafood. We enjoyed snapper as fish of the day and it was delicious. The drinks were great and they offered a lovely French sparkling for under $50. They even had their own beer on tap. Overall a great experience and good value. Highly recommended!

I went there for our wedding anniversary was seated outside
( sticky tables needed a good clean) ordered scallops for a starter, such a small course very disappointing (felt like I could have eaten three times the amount!!!) No kidding very mean potion!,,,The main, the lamb was more disappointing totally unsatisfied it had no flavour whatsoever and a rip off for the price!! Then decided the two course was enough. My husband had the seafood platter for one also a very mean option not satisfying. There is nothing Worse than going out for dinner ( to an apparently nice restaurant )and leaving feeling hungry!!!!! One staff member was very unfriendly the other two we dealt with were friendly. Unfriendly staff are very off putting!! I felt so unsatisfied and ripped off we went to another restaurant called Jinja s a Malaysian restaurant nearby and ordered a couple of main courses great atmosphere and great food!!
