We had travelled from home to Laurieton for a funeral that day and needed to break the return journey. We stayed here by default since nothing else was available that Saturday night. I had read previous reviews after booking and prepaying but thought we have to stay somewhere.
The rear entrance is not especially welcoming being a back street with no stopping zones, nor a receptionist wearing the don't mess with me look.
The secure parking is difficult and very limited I had a choice of one car space or one car space.
The entrance from the car park is very drab, there is a constant odour such as disinfectant except it isn't disinfectant.
The bed was fine and the shower was hot. The cover from the a/c remote was missing, the balcony wall has rising damp, the whole place needs some money spent on it.
We haven't been to the central coast for maybe 25 years I doubt if we will be returning.

We stayed for a long weekend recently, our second visit to this resort hotel. Room was spacious and contained everything that you needed. Bed was comfortable, sleep quality was excellent. Stepping into the very high bath to have a shower and having to pay for secured parking were the only negatives I found. But, the hotel is very well situated, staff are friendly, and I would not hesitate to book again for our quick weekend getaway.

We have just returned from spending time at this Hotel at The Entrance, NSW Australia and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was well appointed and very clean. Bed was comfortable. Position was wonderful as it had great views of the ocean and lake and everything, Restaurants, shops, etc. were right beneath us at street level. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with views of the lake and ocean.

breath taking view to wake up to each morning, Incredibly comfortable bed and pillows, the best I have ever slept on. Great restaurant downstairs, atmosphere at the door. Stayed midweek.

However, this is a rundown, overpriced very noisy "resort".

In the bathroom is also a small laundry, which is convenient. You have to step up and into a bath to get your shower. Very dangerous. The kitchette had a very old damaged cooktop and the resort is very restraint in what freebies are in the fridge and didn't like being asked for more than the basic minimum when it came to milk, tea and coffee.

The room is not serviced while we stayed but they do tell us that and many hotels are the same now.

Carpark was extra but it is totally secured there is the option of free parking in the carpark across the road.

We slept with the door open for the ocean views and fresh air only to be woken the first morning to the stench of the cafe cooking and noise of setting up for breakfast at 6am. At night the local yahoos come and yell outside the hotel. There is a pub just beside the resort and the drunks wander up and down the prominade.

The whole place is very tired, seen better days, some parts of the floor we stayed on reeked of mould and you could see water damage and cracks in the walls where the water came in.

The reception girl was very condescending and no help. I find this happens in many places were I book a bargain through a booking site.

I can only imagine staying there in the high season of summer on a weekend. It would be so noisy! The walls are also paperthin so the quietest conversation can be heard in the middle of the night.

The outside doors are triple glazed cutting out most of the noise but when staying by the ocean who wants air conditioning?

Room Tip: beach side is worth the extra money, but high up away from the noise of the promenade and the cookin...

The hotel is greatly positioned right on the waterfront.

Room overlooking ocean was clean spacious and big.

I do agree that the hotel is in need of a coat of paint and some repairs.

Amazing reception lady Elyse checked us in. Such a friendly, helpful lady. Went out of her way to help us find dinner as we arrived late at night.

Would stay again , just because of the amazing service and superb location.

Thanks again Elyse for a great stay.

We will never stay again, and we will not recommend this place to anyone, hotel needs repairs, desk staff not friendly, they wont clean the room or make the bed while you stay, $15.00 a night extra to park your car in the hotels car park, $2.00 per towel if you need extra and they call the smelly alley a town view room. not happy jan

We appreciate you taking the time to comment on your stay with us. The hotel has self contained apartments in which are generally not serviced throughout your stay. This enables us to pass on savings to our guests. Should you require a service this can be arranged through reception, fees may apply. Town view apartments are situated at the back of the building. Oaks Waterfront does offer lake and ocean view apartments, we recommend contacting the hotel direct to make a booking to avoid disappointment.

Had reservations about staying here after reading reviews on Trip Advisor, but had already purchased the accommodation thru "Telemarketers's" - this was my first mistake.. Was misinformed over the phone about the "makeover" & "refurbishment" of the building. Apon arrival I was informed by the lovely reception staff that the outside of the building (facing the water) was the only refurbishment that the building has had.. We opted for the secure car parking at an additional cost of $15 per night, this was a very tight fit, and in need of a good clean, especially around the lift area. The corridors are just terrible, the carpet is stained & smelly, a real turnoff, the interior walls & doors are in desperate need of a coat of paint & the decor is non existent. The rooms are dated, the lounge needed throwing away as the stains on it was dreadful, we had to throw a blanket over it, just to sit on it, not good! We can't fault the location, it was superb, but couldn't help but think of the potential of the building - it's crying out for some TLC. The bed room was separated from the living area by timber sliding screens, no way could you sleep with those closed, it would be too claustrophobic. The shower was difficult to get in and out of, but the water pressure was very good. The "spa" was of no beneficial use as it was too small and uninviting. We found the TV too small for the room & there was no TV in the bedroom. The balcony was a haven, but a bit intimidating when you overlook others at close proximity, it rained a bit for our stay and the balcony was leaking quite a bit. Can't say that we enjoyed our stay due to the above mentioned, will more than likely give this "resort" a miss if we ever stay in the area again.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback from your stay. The building has undergone two stages of rectification works not refurbishments. This is an ongoing process which will take a number of years to complete. It is disappointing to read we were unable to meet your expectations on this occasion however your comments serve as an invaluable source of information that will ensure we continue to improve our operation and service standards. We hope you return to The Entrance in the future.
