“Great location but DO NOT try the cold and hot platter!!!”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Can't complain about the location: it is right at the ocean front with 180 degree view. A seafood platter for two seemed to be the most appropriate choice on this warm summer day looking over the ocean. However we were very disappointed when the food arrived at our table: the hot part was so small it was just enough for one person. The cold platter didn't look as fresh as we expected. The crab was soggy and had no taste. our local store would serve better prawns, oysters and bugs. Not sure what the rest of the meals are like but the platter was denifitely a below average.

“A great night”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

Whether perception of distance (20 minutes from Terrigal) or perception of inconsistency, we don't come as often as we should.
Yes, it is expensive, but when they get it right it is very good.
Last night was one of our best meals on the coast for a long time.
The number 1 chef Daniel was cooking and you could see his quality and skill.
The entree of duck breast and pork belly was beautifully cooked and I turned an entree of bug meat in puff pastry into a main.
This was superb, perhaps comfort food but excellent nonetheless.
It was a huge serving with lovely bug meat, not overcooked as many do with a good complement of greens.
Lynn's steak was similarly good and one of her best for some time.
Service was a bit of a struggle to start with as they couldn't work out initially what would work with Lynn's allergies but we got there and thoroughly enjoyed the night.

“OVERPRICED "ARTY FARTY" MEALS. Shame you couldn't eat the view”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

Celebrating a 60th Wedding Anniversary. Local Empire Bay Oysters a little expensive at $38- a Dozen or $22-00 for half. The Main meal Salmon with King Prawns. Which consisted of an average portion of Salmon and 2 King prawns cut into sections. With 3 small cubes of beetroot and a swirl of sauce $39-00. Husband ordered Lobster Tail with prawns. Entree size was $28-00 but he asked for Main meal size so $43-00 but it was more an entree portion. It had a very sweet favour lIke a honey in the batter. He wasn't impressed. A serve of Garlic bread is in fact a small dinner roll cut in half with garlic butter. a Reasonable bottle of wine was $47-00. Our Elderly guests nearly feel over when they saw the prices and I think would have preferred a larger portion than the "Arty": effect on the plate. Perhaps when I win lotto we could afford to go back

“very impressed !!”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

We are not food snobs, however we do love to cook so we were looking for something "special" for our anniversay. Well we found it!! The food was beautifully presented, the taste fantastic.. even the rabbit was great and I am not usually a fan :-)
Wait staff were lovely, no waiting even with a false alarm fire evacuation.. and Luke, the sous chef, delivered a first rate dining experience .. we even saw whales breaching, what a view Thanks guys..

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

I am surprised by the bad reviews! We had an excellent meal here last week (I had the salmon and king prawns and my husband had the fish of the day). Both meals were beautifully presented, tasty and perfect portion size. Our waitress was attentive and the service was quick and efficient. The views are stunning. We will definitely be going back.
