We dropped in for lunch after wandering through the main street of town. The dining room/bar area is well presented, with muted, warm colours that are very inviting. Outside the beer garden areas give views of the water, and capture the sun. Sadly though these areas are also where smokers are to be found which is disappointing. Why is it that non smokers have to sit inside these days to avoid smoke? We did sit outside as we wanted to enjoy the last days of autumn sunshine, although the smoke was less than pleasant, and some guests nearby were quite roudy. We both ordered steak sandwiches, overpriced really for the quality of the meal. No sauce or mayo was added to the sandwich and the bread was dry and tasteless. Salad on the sandwich was sliced tomato, iceberg lettuce, sliced beetroot and half melted sliced (processed) cheese. Such a shame, as the pub itself looks so good.

Good atmosphere. Food was a good price and excellent quality.
Great place to watch the footy although in winter the outside area i pressume would get pretty cold.

Disappointing & overpriced pub food. Had a family group in from Sydney who picked their way through an underwhelming meal. The fish had to be sent back as it was so over cooked it wouldn't come away from the skin. Pork chop dish undercooked, salt n pepper squid very thick. At $163 was an expensive lesson we are learning living at The Entrance now - many bad food experiences & this just adds another.

I recently had a late lunch at The Entrance hotel and was very happy with the food. The fish was fresh and the meal was a generous serving size. We were surprised at the cost of the drinks however, especially spirits, and were a bit surprised at the lack of Hunter Valley wines from the wine list given that the region is so close.
