This was our second sleepover visit to the farm. As always, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. My children were thrilled to see Hannah who had brought her baby to the farm for a visit as last time she was still pregnant. Hannah- you are still the most patient and wonderful host- the children love your stories and we thoroughly appreciate your patience and friendly disposition.
The activities are non-stop and the children absolutely love the 'hands on' farm experience! They milked, cuddled, fed, baked, and smiled non stop!
Thank you!

Hi Aylee, thanks for coming back to the farm ,we love that. What a thrill that Hannah was on when you were here. She is just getting back into it with the odd day here and there. She is the most wonderful person around both kids and animals.
Glad you had a good time again and we hope you can get back down here some time soon.

From sunny Singapore, our 2 families who only knew of big city living chose Mowbray from all the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed.

Elise was on the other side of the phone call when I called to make inquiries then the reservation. We were 2 families, with 3 kids under 10 and a toddler. Elise was fantastic to explain what to expect, and even offered to hold lunch for us the day we arrive as we had to drive from Sydney airport after landing. Blair was at the farm office when we checked in. Everything was casual and Blair made sure we all had a good lunch before settling down. Christine from the kitchen was amazing with her selection of home cooking. The food was amazing, but in just too large servings. We had to tell Christine to make us smaller portions.

Justin was great. We did the damper and billy tea right after settling down into our rooms. The damper bread was something the children thoroughly enjoyed doing with their hands, then eating what they cooked over the wood fire. The rooms In the Megallan Lodge were simple and plain, it's a farmstay after all. More importantly the rooms and sheets were clean. Later in the afternoon Justin brought us to the nursery where the farm animals were kept. The children were thrilled as we have no farms in tiny Singapore. It's the first time they've gotten so up close and personal to the chickens, the pigs, the goats, the cows, the llamas.

The 2nd day we did the pony rides with Justin. But that afternoon we did the horse trail. Took almost an hour, being lead by Dani. The rest of the afternoon we just chilled by the playground with the kids running and playing on the swings while the adults sipped hot tea and chatted. The winter cold and sun was definitely refreshing. The nights were cold though. Dipped as low as 9 degress Celsius but the days rose from 11 degrees to 18 degress midday. I guess we brought the sun with us from Singapore, as Blair told us it was raining the last few days before we arrived.

Mowbray is definitely a fantastic experience for families with smaller children. It's relatively small number of guests so the staff can easily improvise to fit each family's flexible timings and fancies. It's an experience I will readily recommend to my friends with kids.

Hi Greg, glad you enjoyed your stay at the farm, we enjoyed your company and had fun as well which is what we all like when you're on holiday. That is one of the great things about what we do, we get to see the joy on the kids faces when they get up close to the animals or the joy of standing around a camp fire, things that used to be a normal part of life. Thanks for coming to share this with us.

Very good place for farm stay. My host, Dani and Justin were really helpful and passionate. our host sacrificed their off- day just to accommodate us,as we were the only people on the farm that day.Justin brought us to the nursery on the next day,it was really an eye opener as it was a farm away from all the city distraction. They had ALOT of animals in the nursery,I got to milk the cows, feed the sheep, feed the chicken, and saw many different types and species of animals from all the the world. They had lots of activity lined up for you.Eg.archery,tennis,table tennis, horse riding, pony riding and canoeing.Recommended for all ages and all nationalities.Very tranquil and peaceful place to stay at.-Harold Lu

Came here with my group of friends for our holiday in Australia in winter. Mowbray farm was really the highlight of my trip. Upon reaching we were greeted really warmly. We stayed at Alberna which was extremely spacious, and the rooms were extremely well equipped with snacks and fresh milk in the fridge. We stayed for two days, and did so many activities such as horse riding and fishing! The owners were extremely accomodating as well, planning activities for us for the ultimate farm stay experience!

Meals were amazing, the cook was always so friendly. Dinner and lunch was a three course meal,, but breakfast was my favourite meal of the day - it was buffet style, with fresh bread, eggs cooked in various ways, bacon, fresh peaches and cream, fruits and fresh juice!

Lodging was extremely comfortable, with heaters and hot showers. Beds and linens were extremely clean and i just felt at home.

The farm is extremely beautiful and relaxing, the grounds are extremely well kept and there is so much pride in the care of the animals. It was a farm like no other i've stayed in. Mowbray farm was so much more than a farm stay, it was a sharing of the love of farming and animals.

Although the farm stay would seem rather expensive at first, especially for travelling students, but at the end of the day, EVERY SINGLE PENNY WE SPENT WAS WORTH IT. All in all the best holiday experience i've had.

We visited Mowbray Farm in May 2013 with a 3 year old and 5 year old. I think I had looked at just about every farmstay website in NSW however decided that Mowbray farm best met our requirements for family fun and value. We opted for the Accommodation Package only (i.e. no food) as we were on a tight budget. We had been to a farmstay previously therefore knew not to expect 5 star luxury but was genuinely impressed with The Chapel Cottage. It was much larger than expected, clean, cosy, well equipped and most importantly very well heated (gas fireplace, gas heating in rooms etc). Activities each day comprised of a morning and afternoon tractor ride to feed the animals and ride Jaime the pony. One afternoon we also had a campfire in which we cooked damper and toasted marshmallows -such a one off experience for my little ones. The little park with the old tractors, mixer and tyre swings also provided much fun. There are other activities on offer such as canoeing, archery etc available for older children. The staff were lovely and approachable at any time, so much so that my 5 year old gave Farmer Blair a cuddle before we left. Farmer Justin was also fantastic with my kids. I'd suggest 2 days is ample to really get a feel for farmlife and enjoy all the activities on offer. If you decide to bring your own food the town of Picton is 5-10mins drive and has everything you need, supermarkets, butcher, bakery etc. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mowbray Farm to other families.

Room Tip: The Chapel Cottage would by recommendation for a single family.

Hi Michelle,
That was so wonderful when your 5 yr old gave me a big hug before you left. It really was a relaxed couple of days I'm glad you were warm and toasty. So may activities to experience we do try to have some things for different aged children, glad you recognized that. Exposure to farm life should be part of each child's learning experience, thank you for allowing us to play a part in that.

The farm itself was brilliant, beautifully maintained, and the animals all looked happy and well cared for. There were some great experiences to be had, including experiencing the animals up close, great pony rides, and cooking damper on an open fire. The grounds were great. There was archery and tennis, and a nice big footy field. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

The only comment I would make is that the kitchen in 'Alverna' was quite under-equipped- we were a large, self catering group and there was not quite enough fridge space, and nowhere to put food. There is no dishwasher, no proper knives for cutting, and no workspace in the kitchen. We were a bit short on good places to sit and eat. The mattresses weren't great either. On the positive side, we were toasty warm and the TV set up was great- a separate living room for the kids and plenty of space for everyone. I would recommend Mowbray Park if you like the outdoors- we spent the whole time outside and the farm facilities completely made up for failures in the accommodation. The kids had an absolute blast and adults had a great time too. Bring simple food that doesn't take much preparation!

Hi Sharon,
Thanks fro your review and feedback. I agree about facilities in Alverna whilst a lot of it works we come up short with dining space. We are planning to put a breakfast bar in the small kitchenette and we need to get a table that can extend out for the other area. I think if we put a larger fridge in the small area then that will give us two medium sized fridges in the lodge which should be enough for a weekend. We can offer space in our commercial cool-room if required.
We have been replacing bedding, so far the queens are new and the doubles, I might make contact with you to identify where the bed is, I'm a bit concerned that one of the queens I bought is too soft. It was a good weekend out and around the farm, we had good weather and plenty going on, the kids had a ball. Thanks for coming down to the farm , hope you can make it back some time.
