“Okay but nothing special”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

After reading the existing reviews here I was wondering if we were at the same place. This is a small "community" zoo. Nothing special for the $50 entry fee for a family. The exhibits are starting to look a bit tired. As our young ones are always up super early we arrived just after opening. Unfortunately the demonstrations didn't start until 11:30am and there simply wasn't enough to do to keep them occupied till then, after about 90 minutes we were done. The Trees-Adventure section (which has a separate fee) would be the thing to do with older children.

“Tree Adventure at the Shoalhaven Zoo”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

Took the family to the Tree Adventure yesterday and they had a fantastic time. The courses were very challenging and required a great deal of bravery!

“Keeps the kids occupied”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

Great little zoo with the best views. The talks are great and interactive. The crocs didn't cooperate on the day but that's what happens when you work with animals. Monkeys are great and will return one day to do the close and personal tours where you can feed them yourself. The adventure walks were great for our 9-12 yr old boys. Climbing through caves etc. bit harder for the unfit adults.
Took own food for a picnic but you can buy from the cafe.
Tree adventure on same site however there was no package deal to do both. Both companies could win with that.
Value for money. Spent five hours there. Kids loved the giant slide as well.

“Fabulous day out!”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Visited the Shoalhaven Zoo and Adventure World late October 2013. It is located just a few kms from Nowra on the north bank of the Shoalhaven River. It has a good range of animals and the 'Furry friends' show was excellent, and featured a baby wombat and echidna, which were passed around the crowd to touch. The Zoo keepers were also available to take photos of visitors holding the wombat or echidna, for a relatively small cost. Photos also were available to be taken by the keepers in many other areas of the zoo, with marmosats, reptiles etc., All types of birds were free to roam around the Zoo, including peacocks, roosters, curlews and ducks. There were many shaded places to sit and have picnics and BBQs if you didn't want to buy food while at the zoo. The Adventure World looked like a lot of fun for all ages.. there is an extra charge for this, but not too expensive as a birthday gift. Most of the pathways throughout the zoo are shaded, making the walk around in summer very pleasant. All in all, it was a lovely day out, in a spectacular location. They do have a website if you want more information: http://shoalhavenzoo.com.au/
