More Restaurants on the cheaper tackier side such as Hogs breath and Red Lobster. Beautiful views and easy access. Lots of seafood available.

Been here a few times and not too impressed. Could be an amazing place but just lacks vibrance. Feels like a dying shopping centre

We like Nelson Bay to visit and the Marina does have a charm, but we have eaten at 5 of the restaurants/cafes and found none to be overly nice. Food pricey and very average. The pizza place we got 'wood fired' pizza's used pre made bases, which I couldn't believe and tasted terrible...what a waste when you've got a wood fired oven to cook them in, how hard is it to make a big batch of dough?? Also we've encountered a few very unfriendly staff and I have wondered 'why on earth??' when you're relying on tourists/visitors to make a living. Anyhow having said all that the there's a lovely stroll along the water and park for the kiddies. We've visited Nelson Bay twice for holidays and despite some shortcomings we quite like the place enough to keep coming back and it's an ideal holiday for a family with small kids such as ours.

Hogs breath was good , so was the cafe downstairs. The gift shops kept the ladies occupied, while i checked out the surf shop. Also subway restaurant was a cheap lunch option. Nice walk along the marina. Family friendly.
