The Resort's rooms are very comfortable, and more features added post renovation.
The Location is amazing as one can take a walk to the Marina and there are many shops, restaurants around. The staff are very cordial and helpful !

The Nelson Resort is optimally located to Nelson Bay shops and the waterfront. The staff are excellent and the rooms are clean and very practical. The breakfast at Little Nel cafe is terrific and there is no better coffee anywhere in the area!

The recently renovated rooms at The Nelson are as good as they read, beautifully styled to a high standard. Very clean and very comfortable. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful as well which made our stay even more enjoyable. Centrally located to shops, restaurants and marina.

Basic Motel with Pool, but not a resort. Our Executive King Suite was just a small room with 2 chairs, desk, kettle, some dishes and cutlery. Tiny closet. Refurbishment is not being well-maintained. Multiple large stains on our carpet and a bath door that had water damage and needs to be replaced. Tile grout was dirty, and coffee cups were not clean. We had a good, firm bed, but instead of a doona, there were 2 questionable blankets covered with top and bottom sheets. WiFi never worked in 3 days in spite of being given several different codes & approaches to try. There is a computer for guest use, but it has a very slow, inconvenient touch screen that wasn't worth the trouble. Very limited parking near the rooms. Also, the outside stairway at the end of the motel units had only rails with wide open spaces in between and no protective panels -- seemed very dangerous, and gave us vertigo. Motel was relatively inexpensive for a reason. Only upside was the mostly friendly staff and the good location near the CBD and marina.

Room Tip: If you expect a resort, pay a bit more for the real thing.

Efficient and friendly staff, large and spotless room, magnificent pool etc.. Try the great breakfast! Howerver the "sea view from private balconny" mentioned in the feature presentation of the hotel would be better left not advertised as it requires some contortionist talent to experience!

Service was great and the rooms very clean and comfortable, very comfy pillowtop king bed. The location is fantastic, walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and to the local tourist cruises etc. Tge pool is sensational, and the pool deck well laid out - perfect for some fresh seafood from the local co-op, afternoon drinks and a swim.

The Little Nel Cafe on site does a great breakfast, I can recommend the toasted muesli, eggs Benedict and the coffee was good too. Would definitely return, we had the Deluxe King room this stay but I would probably opt for one of the spa rooms next time, they have a little more room... if you are staying more than a couple of days the extra room (for me) would be preferable. Overall a great place in Nelson Bay.
