Upon arriving at the motel it looked very appealing and the same can be said inside. We entered the motel and were greeted by Sunan who was very friendly and booked us a room for a 1 night stay in the Admiral Suite with a balcony for $109. The room was modern and spacious with the BIGGEST flat screen TV we had seen this side of Currys! (equivalent Aussie electrical appliance store). There was a sofa in the room along with a coffee table, and we had a small kitchenette with a microwave. A/c was provided too. The bathroom was a decent size with a shaving kit, dental kit, soaps etc. provided for guests. We had two large suitcases with us which were easily stored on the fixed suitcase rack provided. Our second case could be stored in the space beneath it.
We nipped out for a takeaway, a good 10 mins drive to town, however we were able to eat it at the table and chairs provided in the room. We did notice a few ants around the kitchen area, which we promptly disposed of! We are unsure if there was an ant station in the room as we didn’t see one.
Due to another day of lengthy travelling we retired to bed shortly after – and WHAT a bed! Bar our own, this was the best bed we had slept in during our 3 week journey South! : ) We had a fantastic night’s sleep and bathroom trips in the night were a doddle due to the pretty stained glass window in the bathroom – no need to turn any lights on, but not strong light which affected our sleep!
As we had a few electrical items with us due to us travelling we needed a couple of plug sockets for charging our items, i.e. mobile phones, sat nav, mp3 players. We ended up unplugging lamps and the alarm clock to do so, at least a dual socket would be beneficial for guests.
Upon leaving my boyfriend drew back the curtains to see some ‘muck’ inside the curtain rail, along with a dead spider. Bit yucky, but nothing housekeeping couldn’t sort out in a flash! Also the screen door was ripped slightly. Again, nothing major.
Bottom line? A good value motel for the price! Stay again? Yes, definitely! : )

Stayed here for only 1 night. Very comfortable, spacious clean rooms. Looks like hotel has been recently renovated. Friendly Service. Short walk to R.S.L. Club for meals. Our room #3, had a double bed and 1 single bed on the lower floor. Linen was nice and white and crisp and clean. Large room with plenty of space. Functional bathroom. Would stay here again no problems. Plenty of off street parking. Small pool and BBQ area. Nice tiled hallways, so it felt nice and clean though i guess it might be a bit noisy at times. We had NO noise though.

Paid under $100 per night which I felt was excellent in March. New Management, friendly and helpful. Very comfortable bed. Clean, well maintained Motor Inn. Also only a short walk to Nelson Bay itself. Will definitely stay again. Thank you

Room Tip: Did not experience any problems and feel all rooms would have been much the same. I was told that t...

This hotel is in an ok position if you enjoy walking. This was not an issue for us as we didn't mind walking. The rooms were large enough for a family of two adults and two teenagers. It was good having a small kitchen area with microwave. My only concern was no temperature control on the shower, which made it unusable.

We just had two nights at the above premises, having booked online with a view of being close to other friends in the area at the time. The premises are older but are going through repainting and refurbishing. Our booked room on the ground level was not available due to painting and we were moved upstairs. The room was very clean, nice bathroom and bed with a small kichenette with microwave and tea/coffee facilities. There was no hot breakfast available or offerred, apparently the stove was being replaced as the new managers did not like the old electric. This did not prevent the male manager having his breakfast, together with a beer, sitting at the outside table area next to the tiny pool! The price paid, $119/night, was excessive for a ground level room with an extra $10 applied for the 1st floor.

Checked in here on Monday October 10th for a 3 night stay for work.

Was presented with a building construction zone, with staff/owners having no clue what to do with my government contracted booking. Place smelt of paint, sawdust, and glue, and noise of building works. The greeting of the guest (me) was non existsent, and I was made to feel like it was an inconveinance to have me stay with them. Very poor effort! The room I had was good, and clean (except for the mouldy shower). Having a kitchenette is great. Its a bit of a walk to main part of Nelson Bay, but the rooms are quiet and no road noise. Bed was hard.

Internet is very expensive and slow (offered by a 3rd party).

If the owners did some training on professional service, and not feel like you are staying in a 5 dollar per night pub, I might recomend the Motel. But as it stands, plenty of better places in the bay. I will be staying some where else next time. Here is a hint, SERVICE of your guests is a major assesment factor!

Room Tip: stay some where else.
