“So good I bought it!”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

I loved this place. I stayed a few times and eventually bought a unit in the resort. FYI My circumstances have now changed and I can't get up so often so I'm selling it again, but I still think of the place as first class accommodation in the bay.

Recently stayed here for a weekend away with family. We initially booked a standard 3 bedroom, but when others were coming we all put in extra money for the penthouse. And yes it was AMAZING! Huge rooms, kitchen, living and the view from the massive outdoor area was breathtaking!

Location is right on the doorstep of everything in Nelson Bay, but still just that step away from the huslte. So its very esy to park the car and walk. And also very easy to still get out by car and explore all activities in Port Stephens.

We did have the small issue of using a lift and then realised we had to use one with our room number. Other than that it is a small complex and easy to get around and in and out. Gym was decent, sauna was good size and worked well, pool was awesome as it was heated, so went for a swim in the middle of winter and it was nice. Good size BBQ common area too.

We did manage to look through some of the ground floor 2/3 bedrooms as well. These are a slighly cheaper option than anything with a view but really good size and well set out, with good sized private courtyards too. Surprisingly they still have most of what was in the penthouse just not quite as big. Unit 35 ground floor will be apparently be available for xmas and is an end unit getting extra sun and privacy which would suit us being a young family, with brand new furnishings.

So really just anywhere in this complex would be a good stay, from the penthouse all the way down to ground floors. And if you have any questions Brad the onsite manager was very helpful.

Out of about the 10 places we have stayed in Port Stephens here wins by a long way!

Room Tip: Bottom floors are good as you can go straight out through the private courtyard to the pool/bbq area...

Our second time to nelsons bay we thought we would get an apartment so we could cook etc. Loved Cote D'Azur!! Its right next to coles and just left of the top of the main street. Think it took us no longer than 5 mins to walk to the marina! Very quite when we stayed there which was good! We were in Unit 29! They say the security is too tight but i felt so secure with it and wasn't fussed with it all at all! Pool and BBQ area are great for a nice day too! Highly recommend!!

First time i'v stayed at Nelson Bay, and to start with i couldn't even say the name of this hotel!
i must say this hotel is the best i ave ever been to!, i walked in to unit 5 and i swear my jaw hit the floor it was massive! the kitchen, living area everything huge and new. bed was comfy, pool heated views of the bay and just round the corner from the heart of the bay. fully secured rooms and car park, left my jetski and trailer full of stand up paddle boards there with no worries of them getting pinched.

if your heading to the Bay stay here it was AWESOME!

First time we have stayed at cote d'azur and we will definitely be back. Clean, tidy two bed unit. Very spacious, full kitchen, laundry facilities, large balcony, two bathrooms. Very clean and well equipped. Pool lovely and has shallow area perfect for littlies. Beds were super comfy too.
The location is perfect, walking distance to main shops and cafes of nelson bay. If you stay here be sure to try ethica cafe coffee in arcade opposite. Best coffee in the bay!

As a regular Cote d Azu('er) i am interested in your review. I know we can all have a bad experience now and then but I, along with every other review I have been able to find (and read), seem to be poles apart from yours. You have every right to to your opinions but as they are strongly adverse, i must wonder why you didn't ask management to explain first.
Also, I would like to know how to differentiate cockroach droppings.

We have stayed twice at Cote D'Azur and just love it. Being a family it's the location which is unbeatable for us. Right next door to town, coles and the pizza shop are so handy! Brad the manager is so relaxed, helpful and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble. Last time there was a problem with the apartment we wanted, so we were upgraded to the sub-penthouse at no extra charge. You can't ask for better than that! For a three bedroom apartment the prices are very reasonable, and two families can share. The stairs are a bit tricky if you have a pram, but we got around that by using the car park entry and going up the ramp. There is also free bbq's by the pool, and some apartments even have their own bbq. The apartments are modern and spacious, but do your research as they are all differently fitted out and decorated. Thanks Cote D'zur. We'll be back soon.

Room Tip: Get an apartment away from the air conditioning vent which is noisy.
