“A cut above the standard”
Reviewed July 17, 2012 via mobile

Anyone who is familiar with the quality of accommodation typically on offer in rural NSW will find this motel to be a pleasant surprise. We found booking and our greeting at reception to be friendly and efficient, and the room to be large and spotlessly clean. Our breakfast (which we choose to be served in our room) was more than satisfactory - hot, delivered on time as requested, good strong coffee. Unfortunately, our room was not particularly well sound-proofed, and we could hear our next door neighbours clearly and were woken up bright and early by water running. Luckily, the motel's location is quite quiet so we weren't unduly bothered by the noise, but we would recommend that the motel consider upgrading its insulation.

Our stay was a last minute booking and the motel management provided us with a very large and comfortable room on the front with views of the river. It was lovely to catch the last of the winter sun on the small balcony. No complaints about the accommodation or the delicious cooked breakfast included in the rate but we were unlucky to have some very vocal locals down on the river reserve until very early in the morning - so if you are a light sleeper perhaps a room at the back might be in order.

Room Tip: Whilst the view is lovely - things can get a bit noisy down on the reserve on a Saturday night.

We found this hotel listed in the Lonely Planet and it was ideal for a night's stop-over en route north. The hosts were exceptionally helpful, suggesting that as most of the restaurants in town were closed that evening(!) we could use the main balcony to eat our take-away. They laid the table for us and provided all the utensils. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable and there was ample parking. Breakfast was excellent. The location in relation to the estuary, beaches and the town was great. The parrots in the trees around the hotel were very evident as were the nightly displays by the flying foxes.

We checked into this charming property and were greeted by the owner's gorgeous two year old son, who enthusiastically shook our hands. The room was spacious and very clean, not the Hilton, but well worth the experience. The view was excellent for the price we paid, and the breakfast was served to our room and we enjoyed it on our own balcony. We will be telling all our friends, many of whom travel up and down the coast, about this little treasure of a motel. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent. Loved it!

The Riverview Boutique Motel is by no stretch of the imagination a 5 star or even 4 star experience but it is exactly what one should expect from an Aussie motel in a seaside location.
Our stay was just one night on our way further up the coast & was just perfect for this purpose. For us I wouldn't consider it suitable to spend an extended stay.
We were greeted at check in by Bozena who was very pleasant & who gave us a great recommendation for a venue for dinner. (see my restaurant reviews).
We stayed in room # 1 which was large & extremely clean with a comfortable bed. We had a small private balcony with a lovely view overlooking the river.
We enjoyed our cooked breakfast in the charming dining room, having been served by David (Bozena's other half, who certainly wasn't the "grumpy" man as reported in a previous post). We were welcomed with a firm handshake during breakfast by Connor - Bozena & David's 2 year old son, who will no doubt be an asset to his parent's business in the future.
We left Riverview Boutique Motel for our journey further up the coast with the feeling that we had just been quests in someone's home & had experienced old fashioned B & B hospitality.

Room Tip: Room # 1 - balcony overlooking river - all rooms are up a flight of stairs but assistance to carry b...

Although the full breakfast cooked to order was excellent and served in the airy breakfast room in a friendly manner there was much more to the Riverview motel. David and Bozena Parry were excellent helpful hosts and their renorvated home a delight to share. As we were spending a month travelling from Brisbane to Sydney we had more than our share of luggage so a large room was essential. We choose a family(although there were just two of us) for the space it would provide. The room was large without being spacious; had a comfortable sitting area with large dining table and chairs,a microwave(but no cutlery);a large fridge but restricted place for kettle and bedside tables, one of which was almost impossible to open because of electric socket. However it was clean and homely and apart from the minor issues there was really no major complaints. The hotel occupies an elevated position and the balcony offered excellent views of the river. The Riverview is a charming and relaxing place. We booked in for three nights(Thurs-Sun) and on arrival found the geography of Nambucca difficult to understand. Within minutes of the hotel there is a pleasant riverside walk leading to a couple of restaurants and short drives to the beaches. While staying there we found an excursion to the small resort of South West Rocks worthwhile. I agree with other contributors when they say "what is there not to like about the Riverview "

Room Tip: I think all rooms are on the first floor which maybe a problem if you have mobility issues. Advise c...

Simple hotel that was quite comfortable. Owners were helpful.
Thought the bathroom was a bit cabin like for such a nice old house.
Breakfast was nice.

River views were good, but found Nambucca heads itself a little bit underwhelming and quiet.
Spa bath being outside the main reception put us off from using it.
