“Relaxing detox weekend”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

A girlfriend & I signed up for a 2-night detox weekend at Mullum Sari (including accommodation, treatments and fitness centre access).

We were immediately impressed by the Mullum Sari house and our bedroom (with ensuite). Immaculately presented, neat, clean and spacious. The attention to detail was very impressive as well. Pool area was great for relaxing with a book and taking a dip after using the in-house infrared sauna. They have two porch-type areas for sitting/chatting/reading, taking in the beautiful surrounds of Mullumbimby. Kitchen and dining areas were huge and plenty of areas to prepare juices, tea, etc. We particularly enjoyed the comfy lounges, chairs and living room area and even though the house had 3 bedrooms for all guests, it felt more like a house with 10 rooms - you would never feel overcrowded here.

The detox experience was special, we had never done anything like it. It consisted of fresh juices 3 times a day (either pre-made in the fridge or you could make your own through available fresh vegetables and fruits) and a vegetable broth at night along with treatments at the centre. It is surprising to think how long you can go without solid foods, but it's definitely easier than you think.

The treatments at the centre helped the whole detox experience. Colonic hydrotherapy is very different and your whole body feels cleansed afterwards - though, admittedly, this treatment might not be for everyone (read up on it first). The oxygen chamber was also therapeutic and comfortable

Yoga was a lot of fun and challenging - the class was a bit full the day we were there but the instructor does give you the required attention. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to use the gym.

Best part of Mullum Sari was the service (elsa, vicki and lizzie are very nice, informative and welcoming) and the house. We immediately felt relaxed going there and came out feeling refreshed. We will definitely consider doing a longer detox retreat there. Highly recommended

I had a package on a Scoopon, they treated me like a queen. I had to rearrange my appointment a few times and the pervading attitude was gracious and accommodating. Vicki is exceptional! What a dream spa director!
The place has a Bali feel, the gardens are lush and the furnishings and facilities throughout are completely spotless (I love clean spas/hotels/restaurants).
I particularly enjoyed the hypobaric chamber and the Endermologie treatment - my skin is so deliciously smooth afterward. The tasty fresh fruit and vegetable juices offered throughout the day were a welcome treat. A wonderful experience!

“Detox retreat”
Reviewed August 28, 2011

We just came back form one week Detox in Mullum Sari. The detox consisted of Juicing three times a day (no solid food) and vegetable broth in the evening to take home. We really enjoyed our stay and although I was a bit apprehensive at first that I will not be able to cope with hunger. That didn't happen. On the first evening we felt a little hunger, but towards the end of the week we realized how much we overeat at home and how little one needs to live. The girls at the retreat were very nice and helpful. It was a family feel retreat. The facilities are quite good - we had some colonics, infra-red sauna, massages, oxygen chamber (which we really liked) and hydro massage. Both my husband and I lost 5-6kg in this week and got some valuable eduction, so we can continue healthier lifestyle on our return home.
We stayed in Byron Bay - East on Byron, very nice units very close to the beach and we went on long walks along the ocean twice a day. It is 15-17 minute drive from our accommodation to the retreat. So one would need a car. Otherwise one can stay in the same town ( Mullumbimbi) where retreat is. There is motel just opposite.
