“On the road trip this was the best place!”
Reviewed February 27, 2012

Our road trip from Melbourne to Sydney was only 3 nights long - our stay here at sea spray was the best on the trip. This place was clean, tidy, spacious and in a good location. The service was very friendly and helpful! I'd recommend this place to others, and for the best meal go to the RSL, fab!

Very spacious rooms with easy check in and check out. I would thoroughly recommend this place for travellers, bot ONLY if you're a smoker.

We couldn't leave our windows open because of guests from a room 2 doors down who sat outside it and smoked almost the whole time we were there. This was compounded when their visitors lit up too!

However, they weren't just satisfied with polluting the room area, they then moved to the BBQ area and took it over with their foul stench to the extent that non-one else could go there, another female guest who had been sitting there happily working on her lap yop had to move.

The people in the executive suites down the other end of the builing must have been on the end of the windrift, as I heard them complaining about the unpleasantlness of the smoke as well and they too had to vacate their balcony and go inside.

Fortunately this large group of smokers went somewhere else for dinner, which did allow us to use the fabulous BBq facilities (some of the cleanest and best we came across in a month of travelling) and we were finally able to enjoy some fresh air; not for long though - back they came and lit up outside their room which was very close to the BBQ area and we had to retreat tio our room, close up and put the air con on.

The bed was comfortable, but guess what we had for breakfast? yep, that's right. More cigareete smoke stench. This was also overwhelming the whole time we were trying to pack our car.

This motel has a lot going for it, but there needs to be a designated smoking area well away from the rooms and the BBQ area, so that the stay of a moptel full of guests isn't ruined by the habits of the occupants of just one room.

Room Tip: Check to see if smoking policy/location has been changed before you book!

A budget motel with an extra touch of quality. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Good position just on the edge of the town and in walking distance of the restaurants.

We stayed for one night in a double spa room - the queen size bed, spa bath, shower and toilet are upstairs, whilst downstairs is the well appointed kitchenette and lounge area with a balcony. The motel is a easy walk to the shops and restaurants of Merimbula. Wifi is free and quite fast. The room was nice and clean, and we enjoyed our stay.

John and Robyn are cheerful hosts and run a great motel.

This motel is really good value for your money. Right next to CBD, fresh and smart on the outside, and very clean on the inside. Even the bed linen and towels smell clean ! And run by very warm people, Robyn and John. I went through 8 motels on the same trip, but yours was easily the best experience. Thanks.

Room Tip: When you lie down on the bed, you do feel quite confidant you will rest well.

A great variety of rooms from quite basic to more upmarket.
I stay here regularly for business and its alway quiet and clean.
John and Robin the owners are always up for a chat and a laugh and seem to have a nice following of regular travellers through!
Although no Restaurant, town is a close walk and the breakfast cooked by John very generous and filling.
During the week its mainly Reps and travellers and not many families and kids.

Room Tip: The rooms away form the main road are my favourite.

We stayed here for 1 night on our drive from Sydney to Melbourne. The hotel was easy to find, being on the main road into Merimbula. The host was brilliant, very friendly and informative about the area. Before our visit I had corresponded with her by email several times and she offered information on the surrounding area and on restaurants nearby, even offering to book one for us. GOOD POINT - although we are English, we got pensioner (senior) discount, so it is worth asking!
On arrival, we were shown our room which was on the ground floor, and a very good size. It was typical of a Motel, with good standard furnishings - bed (large double), desk, TV, and bathroom with shower and toiletries provided. Some rooms/apartments on the first floor have views over the bay, but cost more and accommodate more people. There was parking outside in the central courtyard.
Sea Spray is only a short walk from Merimbula centre (about 10 mins down hill, but 15 mins back up again!!! There you can find a good variety of shops - but most of them closed about 4.30pm, which we thought was very early. The waterfront is pretty and very peaceful and there are a few restaurants, with good views.
We booked 'Room Only' but breakfast can be provided, at extra cost but must be ordered early evening before. There is a lovely cafe right by the waterfront in Merimbula, where you can get a good breakfast and with a fantastic view. Car parking in Merimbula was free.
We would go back again to Sea Spray, if we come to Australia again.
No Negatives.
