We had an outstanding week at Capella with friends, very special experience, great staff, great service, great food. Back next year for snorkelling and longer walks. Capella is an outstanding luxury resort but still retains a relaxed atmosphere with wonderful views.

What a wonderful 8 days on Lord Howe Island- so pristine and picturesque . Capella Lodge is situated near one end of the island and just a great place to stay. Libby and Mark are very good hosts and all the staff are friendly, happy and helpful. Capella is classy but at the same time laid back so you just relax and enjoy it all. We enjoyed chatting to the other guests during the cocktail hour .The included breakfast and dinners were very good.
Thanks to all at Capella for a great holiday.
Lynette and Neville.

Recently spent 5 nights at Capella on Lord Howe. The Island itself is a little known jewel with so much to offer those who want time out and a chance to enjoy all that nature can deliver. The Lodge though has well appointed accommodation, the chefs are imaginative providing very tasty culinary treats using local seafood especially, and the staff are friendly and caring.
We stayed in a Lagoon Loft with views across the lagoon to the two mountains. The accommodation is not cheap but this island is 2 hours flying time from the Australian mainland and nearly everything comes in by aircraft or boat, and the price caters for nearly all your needs including most meals, snorkelling gear, bikes, etc. The only gripe was that the bed was a bit firm and so a good night's sleep was difficult - but that was just my observation. In my opinion, it was well worth the price. Going back again next year and will be staying at Capella.

Flying into Lord How is a sight to be seen. Spectacular is one of the many words that can describe Lord Howe Island.
We had booked 4 nights into The Capella Lodge. From the moment we where met at the airport by Libby, driven 3 mins if that to the lodge we where intrigued and in awe.
Our bags where whisked away by Mark and arrived in our room with out a flicker of the eye.
Libby is such a nice lady we felt like we where coming to stay at her home she made us feel that welcome and relaxed. After a lovely chat and a gorgeous snack and drink we where taken to the most beautiful room the Lidgbird Pavillion. Well we had the best view of Mt Gower it was a little serial when you looked out the window. The suite has a spacious bedroom bathroom upstairs with downstairs a fabulous bathroom and sitting room with a deck. On the deck is a small pool and a wonderful bath. Every evening the girls would call and ask what cocktail or just have the one they where making that evening with some lovely canapés bought to our room. Then we would wonder down and enjoy a lovely 3 course meal with wine in the gorgeous dining room.
The staff where just lovely too Bre, Robin and Emily such naturally charming people. Nothing is every a problem. Also I must mention Sarah in the spa she had magic fingers.
We enjoyed riding around on push bikes as it only takes maybe 15mins to reach the other end of lord Howe. Our room came with a golf buggy which was a bit fun cruising around in.
We loved Ned's Beach and hiking up to Goats Cave 3 hours there and back we could have done the big hike up to Mt Gower it is an eight hour hike with a guide weather permitting. Some guests that where there when we where did it and they enjoyed the challenge and the beautiful views.
One night we had Ian come in and give us a talk about the island right from the formation to the creatures great and small. That was very enjoyable and in informative in a relaxed manner.

We also did a lovely boat trip around the island for 2 hours with Anthony he was very informative. It was very beautiful looking back at the island. If weather permitting great trip to do.

We could have snorkelled as the water was so clear. I think in summer when the water is warmer would be very special. We did feed fish on Neds beach that was bit of fun.

We have stayed at The Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island as well. Which is owned by Baillie family. Well they just know how to do it. You might say Capella is SOL is little sister but she isn't shy.

Thankyou Libby & Mark and staff you made our stay perfect we hope to return in summer one day.

We spent 4 glorious nights at Capella Lodge in the Lidgebird Pavillion. You never have to think or worry about a thing at this place. The staff are gorgeous, and the view is absolutely breathtaking, to the point where it feels surreal.
My fiance proposed to me in the restaurant on our first night at this magical place. I felt like I was in the pages of a fairy tale.
We can't wait to return to this very special, enchanting place.
Thank you LHI and Capella Lodge.

My husband and I recently stayed for 4 gorgeous nights prior to the arrival of our 3rd child. The Island is simply beautiful and gorgeously unspoilt. Staying at the lodge was fabulous and we plan to return one day.

The food was varied, fresh and delicious. Wine list was extensive. The service was very friendly and staff always helpful. Bronwyn in particular went out of her way to look after us.

We enjoyed snorkeling, a beach BBQ, bike riding, walks and a visit to the local markets.

The only improvement I would like to see is the addition of another golf buggy for guests. There is one you can book but it had been Pre booked for our entire stay by another guest. The staff are more than happy to drop you places and pick up but the freedom do be able to get around on your own would be preferred as another option to bike riding all the time. Perhaps the island rules prohibits Capella owing another vehicle. It was enjoyable to ride around, the hill to Ned's was too much for me at 28 weeks pregnant ( and I would imagine for some of the older guests staying at the Lodge),

Tips - pack lightly, the 14kilo limit will be enforced ex Syd. Capella offer a laundry service at $30 for a generous sized bag. Prebook the buggy and spa treatments before you arrive. Take it easy and relax - the lodge and island are stunning.
