“Very experienced, professional & safe - knows all the good spots”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

Good boat, well-run show by Tas, nice scuba diving around the back of the island, off Malabar - lots of fish and rocky swim-throughs. If you are advanced, a trip to Balls Pyramid is said to be the ultimate dive at Lord Howe Island. Have fun!

“Unique diving experience”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Diving with a combination of tropical and cold water marine life was quite fascinating, and the wall diving quite interesting. Unfortunately, the adverse weather conditions when I was there in April 2012 prevented us from diving the better dive sites at the nearby Admiralty Islands, and the diving did not have the expected great visibility I had experienced diving at remote locations with similar underwater terrain like Pearson Island off the far-west coast of Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, due to the rough sea conditions.

However, the saving grace was the fantastic (albeit shallow) dive at "Comet's Hole' in 'The Lagoon' inside the reef. The variety of fish life was amazing, including several species of Butterfly Fish, Lion Fish, Stingrays and Moray Eels, and some small, harmless Galapagos Sharks to cap it off.

Beware of the hype around diving at 'Balls Pyramid' some 20km southeast of LHI, as the dive operators only go there rarely due to its exposed nature - the planets really do have to be aligned to fluke a day's diving there coinciding with your LHI dive trip!

Tas Douglass' Pro Dive is a professional outfit and there were no issues, except that I missed out on the bonus dive which came with my dive package, due to the poor sea conditions.

I recommend LHI for SCUBA divers who are also into bushwalking, as this had to be be my focus in the second half of my stay due to the extremely rough weather, which can restrict the diving opportunities at this exposed remote location.

Hi Wade

Thanks for sharing your experience of diving with us on Lord Howe. Great to hear you enjoyed Commets Hole, it is a shallow lagoon dive but as you say it does have a great variety of marine life.

I'm sorry to hear that you missed a few days diving due to weather but good to hear you enjoyed the bush walking. We do have some great hikes on the island.

We hope to see you visit again soon

Kind regards
Tas & Lauren
