The six locals must have gone to a different restaurant than the one I visited. The food was glorious and plentiful, the atmosphere was relaxing and the views to die for. I am coming back for more. Thanks

Six of us (locals to the area) decided to have a Xmas get together at Ripples, what a mistake!
Service was terrible
Food ordinary, steak was too tough to eat, hair in desert and no apology from kitchen, chef was told but no reaction...we were offered some ice cream or something.
Ice buckets that actually warmed the wine
Asked for extra water on numerous occasions but to no avail.

As we are locals we try and support local busnisses but Ripples has seen the last of us

Thank you for your feedback.
Our aim at Ripples on the Creek is to provide both our restaurant and cabin guests with superb hospitality amid beautiful country surroundings; so we feel very disappointed when our business falls short of providing this. This is why we welcome constructive feedback and suggestions to improve – so that we can ensure we are doing everything possible to make the Ripples experience a great one. You can be assured that our staff have been advised of your feedback and that our procedures for service have been reiterated and training opportunities identified.
In response to the issues you have raised, I would like to note the following:
I believe that your definition of supporting a local business is rather different to ours.
At Ripples, we support our local businesses by buying bread from the local baker, meat from the local butcher, rice from the local rice farmer, and unique local food products from local manufacturers. We do this despite the fact that it means we might pay more for the products than if we purchased them elsewhere and despite the fact that on the rare occasion the product might be a little less than perfect.
We donate vouchers as prizes on a regular basis to support local organisations and hold fundraisers when we can to support worthwhile charity causes. We employ young local staff, which provides flow-on benefits for the local community.
On a personal level, I support local businesses even though the experience doesn’t match the 5-star experience I might get in the city. I go back and keep supporting those businesses even when I have been disappointed. Why? Because I love Kyogle and I love the people who live there and I know they’re doing their best to provide the goods and services the community needs.
I also note:
The day you visited the restaurant, we had a new staff member who was in training.
The steak we purchase is from a reputable local butcher, and in this particular instance it was a high-quality cut of rib fillet.
We take hygiene and cleanliness very seriously and do all we can to prevent any contamination of the food we prepare. As you would understand, there is always the chance something might end up in the food unnoticed. I note that you were not charged for the dessert, as compensation.
The restaurant was very busy the day you visited and therefore not possible for our chef to be able to leave the kitchen to speak with you. I do note though, that a personal apology by an even higher level – one of the owner/managers – was made on Ripples’ behalf.
Kind Regards,
Cherie

This restaurant advertises a "delicious meal ...exceptional dining". Our experience fell way short of this! We both ordered the 'rib fillet', medium rare. Not only was the meat not rib fillet, it was fatty and very over done to boot. Given our disappointment, we hoped for some redemption in desert. No! The pecan pie was stodgy and being ice cold did not sit well with the warm caramel sauce or the creamy, read "Peters" ice cream. The white chocolate in the crumble was your woollies choc bits....not exactly gourmet?? It has been a long time since we have had a worst restaurant meal.

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. I am surprised to hear about the steak as the only cut we stock is rib fillet which we obtain through a reputable local butcher, and we normally receive many compliments on our steak. Nonetheless, we have taken your feedback on board and will endeavour to ensure this does not happen again. Your feedback has been passed onto our restaurant staff as well. Kind Regards, Cherie.

Great rural views from the verandah. This day they have live entertainment
which added to the ambiance of the arvo. Menu selection was great, presentation A1, staff friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed. Will return

This restaurant has a great country location and sitting on the veranda for a meal is a treat. The food is top quality, too, and the prices very reasonable. So if you are planning a trip along the Lions Road, stopping for lunch at Ripples is a must.
