Came for the long weekend I asked for a room away from the shops after reading tips on Trip advisor, we were given the wing with the longest walk from anything. Wing 7. For the price we paid it was good value, I woud have like a view of the water as I live in the country and should have asked for a upgrade as the whole of wing 6 and 7 seemed rather empty. The rooms were clean but I did have to find a cleaner and ask for fresh towels after a couple of days and our tea/coffee had not been filled. We ate at Sea Salt and had great pizzas. The pub was good we had great service and the staff even printed off a timetable of the buses for us. We took advantage of the local bus service and spent a day between Coolangatta, Tweed and Kingcliff no worries on and off the buses. Loved the walk to the beach every day after brekky. Found everything in the village and was great for base to explore the Northern NSW towns. If you can get a great deal which includes breakfast go for it. I think it is time for a refirb.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the shops but expect a long walk through the whole complex. If you can get a package...

Thanks Selena & Trevor,

I am so pleased you saw more of the area. Salt and surrounds is a surprise pocket of the Tweed Coast.
Mantra is currently refurbing our rooms, so you should see a difference next time you choose to stay at Salt.

Stayed here for a romantic weekend & loved it! Staff & service were great. Hotel is in a great location and views were superb. Fantastic location to the pub & some restuarants - all within walking distance. Looks like it squashed in next to Peppers but the hotel itself has plently of room - great swimming pool, spa & tennis court if you want a hit. Will defintely go back.

We stayed here in June for the long weekend and were originally tossing up between here and peppers but decided on salt due to a deal we got for 3 nights which worked out cheaper than 2 at the other. I had heard peppers was a lot better but we thought we won't spend a lot of time in the room so didn't worry.

On check in the staff were extremely friendly. I asked if there was an option to upgrade to ocean view however they were fully booked. On booking I asked for a quiet room as I had read some rooms are noisy and this was met. We were right at the very end of a wing so got no noise! The view was supposed to be hinterland yes I could see a mountain in the distance however I would have called it road views. Because we were at the end of a wing we had to walk a mile to get to the lift it would be useful if they had stairs or something at the ends!

The room was great as In large and self contained we got a 1 bed room spa suite. However the bathroom smelt so bad like sewerage and I had read this on other reviews before so it must be an issue in the hotel. Now I am pregnant so have a heightened sense of smell so it was really not good! Then when I was about to use the toilet I found marks all in it if you know what I mean! Not good! So needless to say I didn't end up utilizing the spa bath as I was concerned about its cleanliness also! The beds didn't come with a doona just a couple of tiny blankets so the first night we froze with it being winter so the other nights we turned the heater on 30 degrees which was in the lounge to warm up the apartment. A doona in winter would have been great! The remotes for the tv are so bad they're impossible to get going and you can't press the buttons on the tv itself which made it impossible to use. The light switches are in odd places in the rooms.

The location is great right next to salt village so there are restaurants there which was great as the hotel restaurant was closed apart from breakfast and I didn't see any room service menus. I would highly recommend Bellini for a beautiful authentic Italian meal or sea salt for pizzas. Salt bar if you have kids. The fish and chip shop was really not great!

I never saw any staff as the room was not serviced so even though the hotel is massive and busy you don't see it which is great!

The pool looked great and it's right on the beach so would be amazing in summer!

We got a really great deal so we got what we paid for so that was ok however if we want luxury next time will go to peppers. It is great for kids so may be back when we have ours for a cheap getaway from the coast!

This was our 3rd stay at the Mantra and again it was excellent.
The staff are fantastic and always happy to help. Definitely worth getting a room with ocean views our first room was at the back in block 6 and just looked over the road which wasn't so great the staff happily moved us though and block 2 was great.

Be aware wehad a room on floor 2 and it was above the shops which was quite noisy with the stock truck coming in and out. Not unbearable but a little annoying when it was left running for long periods of time.
Also they decided to do work on the roof which meant that for one day until midday we couldn't use our balcony as there were workers walking past constantly until midday. Again frustrating but would not stop us going back!

We stayed here for a wedding that was nearby in May 2013 and stayed for 2 nights. We were very happy with the hotel and room that we stayed in. We stayed in a one bedroom spa room which was very roomy and was well worth what we paid for our stay. The cafe/pub district outside the hotel was quite nice. While it was a nice stay i think this is a place we would see for a short stay.

I think the hotel would also be a good location for an offsite work conference.

Room Tip: We stayed in a 1 bedroom spa room while friends stayed in a one bedroom room. Our room was much room...

Just stayed here recently and its very unique, everything is located i guess sort of within the hotel, a few resturnaunts ect withing the hotel precinct , sharing with the neighbor peppers i think.
anywho..car park is well located but easy to get lost . i was block in block seven. it was great because we parked outside on the road during the day when we went out and back. however....when we walked in the room had an awefull smell..maybe the spray they use but i was awfull i went straight in and had to open up doors and it was so cold.
later in the evening it was very cold so we put the heater on, it worked however teh aircon flap was obviousy broken and the heat was aimed directly at teh wall and couldn't point at us. other then that i actually didnt get to see ANY staff other than one at check in she was nice. its a fairly quiet place, defiantly minimal risk of noise even teh streets were quite around the hotel.
ohh and the safe in the room was a bit dodgy as the keypad was incorrectly coded and buttons would represent teh wrong numbers and out double or queen bed was two singles together i thing as teh middle was very hard!. but apart from that the hotel is nice, lots of wildlife , good view, quite, open and very accessible.
i would definatly stay here again...just a different room.

Room Tip: seven is very quite and maybe just renovated because it smelt like paint. good acess to pool and ten...

Have stayed here twice in the past few months. Both times we have been happy with our room and the service. The resort is quite large but there never seems to be too many guests around. Its great if you are looking for some quiet time and relaxation.

The rooms (one oceanview bed apartment) are always clean and well presented. The kitchens are also large enough for us to cook and we have used the washing machine and dryer more than once.

Love that there are a number of restaurants within walking distance at Salt Village. We stopped by an Italian place and then a wine bar and loved both. Highly recommend this resort as a value for money location. If you are thinking of staying - join the rewards program attached to Mantra (CUSoon) and get an even better discount when they send the regular discounts out.

Happy with the rooms, love the location, love the view.

Room Tip: Spend the extra dollars and get an ocean view room - you won't regret it.
