“Portugese vibe at Salt Village Kingscliff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

Stephen Snow is building on his Portugese connections at his well known Kingscliff eatery (he has recently opened a restaurant in partnership in Portugal..Must be lots of late night phone calls sorting out the menu!!).
We ate there twice on a recent couples trip. Light, mostly vegetarian first night (with a side of delicate squid) and a Glass of Lenton Brae.
Second night a bit more serious. The Cataplana is a signature dish. Very beautiful and delicate selection of seafood for 2...but at $95 it seemed a bit light on for size. The peri peri prawn dish was excellent and plenty big enough in main course size. Menu is limited. But there has been recent addition of meat dishes to the seafood specialties.

Shared a bottle of Dao.Snow and his sommellier have a great Iberian wine list.
Service was very good too.

Highly recommended.

“Food good, service not so good.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

I took my husband to Fins for his birthday dinner as I had heard good reviews but was disappointed with our experience. The restaurant was busy, but not overly so - and we had a booking. However, we were given our menus and not told about the specials, oysters or fish of the day that was available (as I understand they usually do). We ordered the cataplana seafood to share, which at $95 for two is relatively pricey. The dish was good, although we were not given any plates or bowls to discard the shells. Our own bowls came out following the dish and the waitress spilled the dish while serving. Apparently she had the wrong spoon, went and found the right spoon and informed us we could finish serving up the dish ourselves. We were happy to do this to avoid a dry-cleaning bill! As our dishes were cleared away I told the waiter the dish was very nice (which it was), and he didn't answer me! I'm sure he heard me as well - very odd! So although the dish was nice, even if a little overpriced, the service was not what I would expect of a restaurant charging prices of $40 and up for a main.

“quality food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

This was a nice surprise, service was near silver service just excellent.
The menu had a nice variety of food on offer, and it was all very good, we indulged in their cocktails, all in all it was a very pleasurable experience.

If i am going to Kingscliff again, i will pre-book before i arrive, i very much recommend.
