This was my second stay and also in the same apartment. It was at ground level from the car park but up over the pool at the back and had views across Cudgen Creek. The apartments are interior decorated by the owner, so all are different. Ours had a Bali feel, very comfortable, views over the creek from the kitchen dining room and lounge open plan area. Good to watch the kids in the pool. Plenty of paperbacks and good quality table books to read plus some games. We found the area pleasant with a great boardwalk right outside the gates which took us down to the mouth of the creek and onto the beach. Good brisk morning walk but there is also, bikers, skateboarders, walkers, and dog walking going past the apartments. This does not interfere with sleeping arrangements as the bedrooms are away from the waterfront Meanwhile in the creek there are surf skiers, canoing, kayaking, rowers, a swimming school, surf board training, bathers, fishermen and the odd power boat. This is a great place to take the elderly also to just watch the goings on around them. There is a family of water dragons who live around the pool which the kids liked to see. Walking inland along the boardwalk past the boat ramp outside, is a fairly large park for picnics, toddler swimming and fishing. Just over the bridge you would head along the coast road to Cabarita Beach, Hastings Point and then Pottsville. These are not far and all have good beaches, vistas and lookouts.
The grounds of the complex though not large are well kept and attractive and there is a BBQ area beside the pool.
This is a pleasant area to stay and right on the water whereas the beach views have the main road running right in front with an expansive park with trees opposite before entering the beach. This runs almost the length of the foreshore. Most of the beach swimming occurs at the creek end of the beach and the main shops, boutiques, cafes run from this end also.
I prefer this quieter beach area and it is only about 15>20mins to Tweed Heads, (shopping and clubs) and then back over the border and onwards north to the Gold Coast City and it's beaches.
Well situated, the kids hired the complexe's canoes for 4 hours in the creek, swam in the pool and at the beach and the weather was devine...I'd go there again and again.

We had a wonderful stay at Sunrise Cove. Our room was spacious, very clean & had everything you need for a family holiday (we have a baby & toddler) - the room even had books and games! Modern furnishings and a huge flat screen TV. Great balcony right on the water - which was so clear you could see the fish swimming. There is a great little sandy area for the kids to paddle in right out the front gate, as well as a solar heated pool & a bbq area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't need to move our car from the garage, we could walk to park, cafes & shops. We will definitely be back - Kingscliff is a great family holiday destination.

Our friend’s recommended Kingscliff and Sunrise Cove as ideal for a sea side break. Their positive recommendation wasn’t anything like the previous review which is pretty grim, so I did some homework before booking to dispel my reservations.

Firstly, Kingscliff is a great place for a break – short or long. Easy access to Coolangatta Airport makes it very convenient. Close enough to the Gold Coast for all that razzmatazz if you want it – which we didn’t. We loved the Cudgen Creek. Efficiently cleaned twice a day by Mother Nature. Crystal clear water – utterly divine for a swim and snorkel. We caught the outgoing tide, floating from Sunrise Cove down to the mouth of the creek and then wandered over to catch a few waves at the beach before walking back to the apartment.

Sunrise Cove is not a hotel and not in that category. The accommodation is very comfortable, contemporary, spotlessly clean and neat as a pin. Our 2 b/room apartment was well appointed and everything worked as it should. The balcony looked out towards the mouth of the Cudgen Creek, the scene changing hourly with the tide. Admittedly full tide provides a prettier view than low tide but – hey, it’s nature.

We didn’t use the pool but there were others clearly enjoying themselves. The BBQ area was clean and welcoming for our family luncheons. Blissfully quiet at night, the only ambient noise was the sound of the ocean. The onsite managers Len & Karen are very happy people; nothing seemed too much trouble.

Kingscliff town is an easy stroll from Sunrise Cove. There’s plenty of cafés and restaurants to choose from. Some good boutiques, etc. The town has more than we’d expected in a seaside village. There’s the neatest little cinema / cafe we’ve ever been to screening art house films. Delightful find. Surprisingly, there’s a great bottle shop just up from the cinema with an unexpectedly good selection of local and international wines. Two unanticipated finds in one day. We were thrilled.

In summary, we found Kingscliff a warm, casual, friendly seaside village with plenty of things to do. It feels genuine. We enjoyed our stay at Sunrise Cove and are looking forward to bringing a group of friends to stay next time. We would holiday in Kingscliff again anytime and book Sunrise Cove without hesitation – no reservations now.

The brochure stated 'absolute waterfront" which turned out to be a shallow muddy lagoon on Cudgeon Creek! We were also disappointed at the lack of maintenance on this cramped 3BR apartment while we were there, despite undertakings by the Manager to fix the TV and blinds (totally inadequte for the strong hot morning sun that heated up the whole apartment, which had inadequate ventilation). It is not value for money ($200/night) and there were other niggling items that needed fixing (electric jug, toilet seat). There are far better alternatives up the coast, so forget Kingscliff as a holiday spot.
