I travelled with my partner to meet up with friends who were also staying in this hotel. upon our arrival we were informed rudely by a member of staff that house policy was guests had to notify reception of any visitors. the attitude of this staff member didn't change when they were informed that we were booked into the motel for that night. the room we stayed in was comfortable though was not as big as i would have liked, the bed was two single mattress pushed together (which is my biggest pet hate) the bathroom was very small and dominated by the shower. my biggest concern was the exhaust fan in my room began arcing while my partner was in the shower, despite this we were not offered an alternative room or a discount. the hotel is definitely in a prime location withing walking distance of the blowhole and the town centre.

would i stay there again for $150 a night ? definitely not

Booked on advice from Kiama V.i.C. Theroom was very good BUT! the ensuite was only just a 2 star, that was the 1St. and last time m much to small. On returning from dining out we found we could not park in the Motels grounds. So on departure we had to carry our luggage out to the Street. Being in my 70's
I found this was quite unacceptable.
So that is the 1St. and last time that I will stay at the kiama Cove motel.
P.S I spent approx. 25 years in the Tourist industry and have stayed in all types of accommadition and for the money that was very poor value

We are frequent visitors to Kiama and are always on the lookout for affordable places to stay there. We found a deal for this hotel on wotif.com and we were so glad we chose to stay there. The room was nice and big and had a king size bed. Our favorite thing was that the breakfast was in the refrigerator in the room, ready for us whenever we wanted it. As we are the kind of folks who like to sleep late on vacation, this was a great feature as we didn't have to get up at a specific time to get breakfast. We knew we had booked a non ocean view room but it didn't bother us as the ocean is less than a 5 minute walk from this hotel. But if you can afford the ocean view room, I'd say go for it as the location of the hotel is spectacular.

The centre of Kiama is only about a 10 minute walk from the hotel and the train station is even closer.

Our only complaint: we stayed the same weekend as a group of vintage car collectors. As they got going really early on Sunday morning there was loads of revving and noise quite early in the morning so we missed our Sunday morning sleep in.

Kiama is amazing and by far our favorite place in Australia! it is so relaxing and beautiful and has great shops and restaurants. Visit if you can.

The motel has a lovely location and great views. Our room was very clean, the bed comfortable with fresh white sheets and good pillows. Breakfast was basic 'continental'. Staff were pleasant, friendly and welcoming. Room was quiet and could not hear noise from cars or neighbours.
Minor criticisms are:
+there was no milk in the fridge until 6.30 p.m. so couldnt have a cup of tea on arrival.
+no where in bathroom to put toiletries
+shower head unadjustable for taller people
+Room door kept sticking and difficult to unlock
+bathroom and shower recess very small
+difficult to fill electric kettle under tap
+toilet very close to wall and large people would have to sit side saddle
These may appear petty matters but as the motel was advertised as boutique we expected something better than the stock standard motel. It was ovepriced for the facilities.

  • Liked — location
  • Disliked — small bathroom, pretentious fittings to appear "boutique".

My Wife and I stayed overnight in this hotel on a trip down the South Coast recently. It was quite cool on the night of our stay and we found our room to be very warm and cosy. The hotel doesn't look much on the outside but our room was great, it was very clean and was tastefully furnished (for the price), with a very comfortable king bed and a great ocean view. We wish we had stayed longer as we discovered Kiama is by far the nicest town on the south coast, we will definitely return one day and stay at this charming little hotel again.

My BF and I have just had a short break in kiama, and we stayed at Kiama Cove. Upon arrival, we found that the exterior of the motel looked a bit tired and worn, and were a little let down. However as we checked in, we were quite happy that we did get what we were expecting: an upstair room with king size bed, air-con and ocean view, with breakfast (cereal/toast/coffee/tea/juice/butter/jam) for A$99. Although there were damage to the paint of the wall, and stain on the carpet, these were really quite minor. The room was well-cleaned (although not completely spotless). I was quite impressed that all alliances (hairdryer/toaster/kettle/fridge/air-con/TV) and furniture looked new and clean. The bed/linen looked clean, crisp and new too. The location of the motel is very good, it is very close to the surf beach, and minutes walk to the town centre. Overall, we are quite happy with our stay at Kiama Cove. If you are looking for clean and comfortable accommodation with good location and view, yet at a reasonable price, I think Kiama Cove is quite adequate.

  • Liked — Good location, comfortable facilities and reasonable price
  • Disliked — Refurbish the exteria of the motel, and repair some of the minor damages in the room would be lovely.

What a huge disappointment! I don't why this place is called boutique?
The photos on the motel's website are misleading and do not show the state of the motel. The rooms were dirty and in need of a major renovation. We paid $180 for the night and we expected something great for that price.

We are at a loss to understand why this particular guest was so unhappy with their experience at our motel. We have a book full of accolades and thank yous and positive comments from our many, many extremely satisfied guests. So many of our guests return time and again, stating that they feel so at home here and are made to feel so welcome by our friendly, helpful staff. While the Kiama Cove Boutique Motel may not be as 'boutique' as some people may expect, we have beautiful clean rooms with quality inclusions and lovely ocean views.
