As locals over the years we have eaten at the bistro at the Friendly Inn on a few occasions and have not been impressed. Our latest attempt at a lunchtime was probably the lowest experience. The chicken schnitzel meal was fine, however the prawns on the seafood platter were definitely very off (and the very strong odour clung to the fingers) The crumbed fish was slightly off and grey in colour. Very unpleasant. When I returned the plate and told one of the kitchen staff the problem I received no response at all. He must have thought we were tourists and wouldn't be back, so it didn't matter. Cleanliness of the dining room and tables left a lot to be desired, as did the large number of flies also visiting for lunch. The low standards are a shame in such an interesting destination for tourists. Our recommendation is - eat at the Bistro 146 just up the road, always consistently good, clean and with very friendly service.
