My daughter and I have visited Monte Cristo a number of time and each time we really enjoyed our time there. We found Reg and Olive very friendly and the stories they told were interesting not only about the house and it's past but also about their history.
Each time we visited we experienced activities when walking around the house and in the grounds.
I would be interested in hearing other people's experiences as I am looking at puting a book together recording people's experiences, names will not be mentioned if you so choose or initials can be used.
Please email wispers1958@hotmail.com and tell me what your experience was.
Thank you Reg, Olive and of course the Crawley's for buiding such a beautiful home.

The best way to tour Monte Cristo is on a nightly Ghost Tour. Dinner is included along with stories from Reg Ryan who purchased and restored the house in the 1960's. Our tour guide was Lawrence Ryan (Reg and Olive's son) he was a great guide. We returned to the house in daylight to see the stables and it is just not as good as the guided tour, the stories are what makes this place special.

This home was built by Christopher Crawley in 1885 and is surrounded in murder, mystery and intrigue. The Crawley's are said to haunt the house along with an 18 month old child who was dropped down the stairs by her Nanny. There are at least 7 known ghosts haunting the house due to several tragic incidents in the property's past including the murder of a caretaker in 1961 and the imprisonment of a mentally impaired child/man for over 30 years in the dairy. A maid is said to have fallen or was pushed from the balcony possibly pregnant with Crawley's child and a stable boy is also said to have been burnt to death.

We toured the house after a thunder storm on a cold, clear night. Go with an open mind and have fun!

Monte Cristo is worth visiting if you happen to be in Junee. After a couple of visits, I am still not convinced this place is haunted, but credit must be given to the owners for restoring this house from the dilapidated shell that it once was. There are some very interesting stories associated with the people who lived here, from the murder of a caretaker in the 20th century, to the cook's son who was chained up out the back. Visitors now tour the site on a self-guided tour, which is a shame, as the owners used to give a tour which provided a lot more information.

We were nearing the end of a month long australia holiday and someone suggested we visit this homestead. With two young children it was not something we were overly excited about but had a look anyway. The homestead is beautiful but the way they have decorated it is old and drab and in desperate need of an update. It doesn't seem to have been touched since the 80s. The collection of old carts out the back was interesting to the kids, the rest of the place was just old.

I need to add, be careful as the woman who runs this place is .....how to put it nicely......not the most friendly person we have met. When we entered the front 'souvenir shop' (i.e.. op shop!) she was growling at a little girl for touching something. We noticed she snuck behind a door when we entered the main building and since realised that she was sitting there the entire time watching the security cameras. So.....i am convinced that ANY paranormal spookiness you are feeling when you enter this place is from HER!!!!!
She has speakers ...so if your kids touch something she yells "Don't touch that CHILD". It is appalling.

So, yes, you are being watched, but not by ghosts....by Olive who clearly has nothing better to do than watch her poor visitors every move then scare their children every five minutes, after she has taken your money of course.

Or maybe....sheee is a ghost!!!!!!!

Good luck!
