I was reading the reviews on this site whilst waiting for our food and was hoping that the reviews were not true! But sadly, most of the comments here were what we experienced.
The wait was about 20 minutes and there were not many customers around before us so why did it take so long? Considering our local fish and chip shop back home is always busy and only takes around 10 minutes?
We took the food back to our holiday house just 5 minutes away and when I opened the paper bags, the chips were already soggy. Tasted one and it was tasteless and the oil did not taste pleasant.
The grilled king fish was probably the best of the lot. Nicely cooked and tasty.

The battered fish (hoki and king) was atrocious. The fish was all soggy inside the batter and I did not know if it was the batter which was not cooked properly..checked again, no , it was fish that was soggy!

I am not sure why they could get it so wrong considering their claims of being "World Famous" - and they are in a seaside town.
The price was also very expensive - this fish and chip lunch cost a lot more than our Chinese dinner the night before (which was a lot nicer too)

It may be true that they just need the one time customers and don't care if you return or not.
Disappointing indeed.

The seafood display is amazing and the fish is fresh. Staff are helpful they had run out of black fish we wanted so recommended another equally fresh delicious fish.
Bit too oily scallops but that's to be expected. They advertise their reputation and I can see why.

We bought kingfish and flathead fillets as well as prawns and wonderful oysters (cooked the fish ourselves at our cabin). Soooo fresh and delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful.

First thing is the smell
Second is the flies hanging off the dried out shark jaws covered in fly maggots
Third thing is the presentation of the fish in the displays
Fourth is how they leave trays of fish on a rack out of refrigeration

Product was average
Old oil with a distinctive smell
Chips ok
