Recently I visited the Lady Denman Museum at Huskisson. I have holidayed in this area many times but had never been to the museum. What a gem! There were many interesting local displays that showed the history of the area but the jewel in the crown was the Lady Denman herself. What an experience to walk the decks of this ship and to read the story of her restoration. The walks around the ground are wonderful and it was delightful talking to the volunteers who work there. A must for everyone.

The star attractio n of the lady Denman Museum is the old ex-Sydney ferrry, the Lady D herself. So beautifully placed I started to brace myself for boat rocking. Worth finding out the amazing story of the lady - she so nearly became timber rubble several times. As well as the lady D the museum has local art and photography, some terrific marine history and local history galleries. It is very family friendly. Outside there are fish breeding ponds (leftovers of the float channel for bringing in Lady D) as well as aboriginal carving, a lovely native flower garden, a short flat walking trail and - my graeat favourite - a wonderful and atmospheric mangrove boardwalk, where the magical peace of the boardwalk takes on different qualities with different tides. The whole Huskisson and Jervis bay area is very rich in things to do and places to see for all ages, but for me it's Lady D and the Mangrove Boardwalk (the museum has fee for adults but the boardwalk is free)

The history was interesting enough although the fish lake & boardwalk worth the effort. Seeing the Lady & boarding her was a great memory from when I was a child.

I have been visiting Huskisson for 10 years on holidays and it was only recently that I paid my money to walk through the Lady Denman Museum. It was a rainy day so I didn't have many options, and I had only ever walked through the lovely grounds of the complex. It was beyond expectation, they have one of the most unique and diverse collection of marine / naval antiques I have ever seen. This is truly a hidden gem and the place has such a lovely history with the acquisition of the ferry, The Lady Denman. Definitely go and check it out, even if you aren't necessarily interested, you will leave interested. Well done to all the friendly volunteer staff who are always there to help and answer any questions.
