“Asian Inspired Good Quality Exciting New Taste Adventure at Huskisson”
Reviewed December 29, 2011

Betel leaves with pork belly or trout an absolute hit to start with. Fish cakes, coconut crusted squid in thai egg plant jam to die for, tomato and coriander soup with gyoza sensational, and beef and lychee salad delightful. Now entrees finished we moved to beef cheeks in thai green curry and ocean perch in sri lankan curry with rice all providing a taste sensation. We visited twice in this period, the first time with dad and kids manning the kitchen and we were seriously impressed!

“Sister to Seagrass Brasserie round the corner but came off as poor cousin in comparison”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

Wild Ginger is owned by a chef who also runs Seagrass Brasserie, just round the corner from this venue. We decided to give it a go as we had an amazing meal at Seagrass on our anniversary and the lovely waitress working there recommended it! The venue turned out to be a lot smarter, with a wine bar in the centre of the room [which had a few customers as the local pub was under refurbishment - but this being Australia where there not that many people anyway, it was far from being packed!] The service was excellent [same waitress from Seagrass!]. However the food did not meet our high expectations. That's not to say it wasn't good .. just not as brilliant. My starter was Ocean trout sashimi -fresh, beautifully presented and well what you would expect from something that has no cooking involved. My main was Black Fish fried and served with a soy dressing that was way too salty! Nil point for that. My husband had Fish cakes followed by Ocean trout in thai green curry sauce and rice. Let's just say the cakes were nothing to write home about and I thought the Green Curry sauce lacked a chilli kick - it was really sweet, like a dessert. The best dish was a side order of blanched Choi Sum. We decided that dessert was not really worth it. Overall it seemed to be exactly the same sort of Asian infused Australian menu as Seagrass but it not as good on the night. The owner has also done well in employing such a lovely and decicated waitress - she was the most polite person in hospitality that I have ever come across!
