I stayed here twice driving Adelaide-Sydney and Sydney-Adelaide recently. My room was near new and spotlessly clean, well-designed with all the necessary facilities for a road-trip, with a really comfortable bed. The real surprise though was the restaurant.

The first night I stayed I had the Fisherman's Pie - Selection of seafood cooked in dill and pepper cream, topped with crusty pastry which was delicious, and on my return trip stay enjoyed the Baked Salmon fillet wrapped in Tiger prawn mousseline.

The managers were really friendly and helpful and the service first class. Highly recommended, especially if you want to make it comfortably driving to Sydney or Adelaide the next day.

Room Tip: Eat in the restaurant. Say no more!

Hi Folks, we stayed @ Bishops Lodge on Friday 4th of January this year, we were driving from Port Elliott to Sydney. It was the heat wave @ the beggining of 2013. Temprature was 44 / 45 degrees on arrival so it was hot. We were travelling with [grand] parents and my wife + I have 3 kids and had booked the family room [that connects] + sofa bed. From memory there is also Pay TV [?].

Bishops Lodge's service and clenliness is above where we generally stay and the staff were attentive + pleasant. The pool was great, plus there were many other families staying with young children. There is also a quality restaurant, again with good staff providing service & kids menu, so it was easy to eat on site, get to sleep and drive on.

Its strongly recommended for those wanting a motel experience well above standard.

Room Tip: There is a block of rooms around the back that are probably quieter

The rooms and bathroom is a great size. Bathroom not modern but nice and in good condition with plenty of space. there was no tissues in holder but that's no big deal. The motel is easy access from highway. Not really walking distance to main street but not far at all. The price at 169 was quite expensive for a motel ( we travel a lot and have stayed in many). The pool was nice, no kiddies pool though. The beds are comfy and each room comfortable with split system air conditioning. Small kitchenette is a nice extra.
Would stay here again on next trip, Ill keep eye out for cheaper rate.
Very happy with our stay.

Thank you for your review and your stay with us was comfortable especially during ths sweltering hot days in Hay. During Dec- Jan, public & school holidays this are the peak period season. Others days of the year our price are very comparable. Once again hope to see when you next visit Hay.

This was a last minute decision for us to stop at Hay on our way through to Echuca. We had a couple of stops on the way but none compared to this. The owners were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome from the check-in to the check=out! The room was spacious, clean and very well maintained. The bed was comfy too!! We liked the idea that it was just that little bit away from the pubs and restaurants in town but close enough if we wanted to go into town. The Motel is very well equipped for being close to the highway as there was minimal noise. In fact you would never even guess you were so close. The restaurant was absolutely wonderful. We had the Surf n Turf and it was one of the best we have had. The owners Melissa and Chanook were very friendly and we really enjoyed staying there. We would definately stay there again and will be letting all our friends know how good it was!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Queen size room as there was only two of us but they do have family rooms available...

We stayed at the Bishop's Lodge on the recommendation of the owner of the Saltbush Inn, our original choice of motel in Hay, which was full. I appreciated the recommendation, because our stay was very comfortable. The motel is quite new and the rooms large and quiet.

The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The room contained a microwave, kettle (normal in Australian motels) and a toaster.

The best part was the restaurant. When we have stayed in Hay in the past, we have contented ourselves with a very popular but very ordinary family restaurant in town. The Bishop's Lodge
Motel Restaurant was very good. My husband and I each had a tender, rare eye-fillet, served with a red-wine jus, steamed carrots and broccoli and yummy mashed potato. Simple food, well prepared. And the service was very friendly.

I am giving an average rating for location, only because it is not really walking distance from town, but most people who stay at the motel probably drive anyway. It is close to Bishop's Lodge, an historic house, and a short walk to the beautiful Murrumbidgee River.

We would definitely stay there again.

We loved staying here, it was a lovely little spot to rest between Canberra and Adelaide. However, there was no soap in the bathroom! Other than that, it is a clean, tidy and comfortable rest stop in Hay. Highly recommend if you ask for soap at the reception.

Room Tip: Ask for soap.

We are delighted you had a great stay. Thank you for your comments and we appreciate your feedback and apologise about the soap in your room that was missing and spoken to my staff about the importance of completing their job fully. Look forward to see you in next trip.
