The motel is situated on the main road but we had a room at the rear of the property and found there was no road noise. Breakfast was brought to your room in the morning and was ample. There is a small play area for children and some nice walks by the river just minutes from the property. Ideal stopover.

Very friendly upon check in, clean and comfortable room, centre of town location, great for an overnight stay, stayed for business during November, comfortable bed, no real complaints, perhaps a little on the noisy side as it is on the main road thru town, but not to bad.

We made two stops at this motel located in the heart of Hay a south western country town in NSW. The motel is comfortable some walls are a bit thin but clean and very welcoming. The adjoining hotel has a very adequate bistro which although not "haute cuisine" provided a most adequate meal. The simple hot breakfast served in the motel was well presented and delightful start for the day.

We had to travel back from Sydney to Adelaide by road and decided that we'd make our half way overnight stop in Hay. I have done this trip on many occasions in the past but this was the first time in a long time and we decided to stay somewhere different.

The Nicholas Royal Motel is part of the Golden Chain group and is right in the heart of town. Everything is walking distance which after over 8 hours driving it's nice to stretch the legs. The people who run it are very nice and friendly and welcoming. There are great food options next door at the bistro, however we decided to go across the road to the fish and chip/pizza shop and it was great - honest good food and a stream of locals means it can't be too bad.

The rooms at the Nicholas are very nice and clean, seems they've perhaps had a fresh coat of paint recently. The bedding was comfortable and overall the rooms were a good size for this style of motel.

We didn't really get to see much else as we headed off early the next morning but I would have no hesitation in recommending the Nicholas and would stay again.

Room Tip: If you can get one at the back it's probably going to be a bit quieter but noise wasn't a problem.

We stopped here on our way through to Adelaide. At the end of a seven hour drive we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the Nicholas Royal. The staff or owners were very friendly and helpful. We arrived late but we went next door to a bistro and the food was excellent. Breakfast was hot and very nice, the room we stayed in was a bit old but was very clean. when we woke up the next morning after a restful sleep we went for our early morning walk and was surprised how we were greeted by the towns people, even the school kids said hello. Very nice stay, Thank you .
