“My favorite beach in NSW”
Reviewed April 17, 2011

It was our fourth time in Hawks Nest and we just love it. Hawks Nest is a tranquil and beautiful beachside holiday destination. Situated on the Northern shores of Port Stephens and only 2.5 hours north of Sydney with ocean, bay and river frontage, Hawks Nest has the charming atmosphere of an unspoilt village.
We did escape the daily grind and relax and unwind, surrounded on all sides by water and the rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the quieter waters of Jimmy's and beaches of Port Stephens to the south and the beautiful Myall Lakes to the west.
Believe me Hawks Nest is an all year round holiday paradise sitting at the southern tip of a 42km expanse of pristine golden sands and blue-green water of Bennett’s beach which stretches north along the coastal boundary of the Mungo Brush National Park. 4WD on almost 25km beach was just fantastic good fun.
Sitting on the beach across you can see beautiful Cabbage Tree Island - the only known nesting site of Gould's petrel and the one island in southern Australia to include rainforest habitat.
Nelsons Bay is just a short ferry ride across the bay we went there on the rainy day and have a lovely lunch- fish and chips with a glass of Hunter Valley white wine ( yummy).
There are no fast food chains and no fast talkers, no traffic lights and no traffic. Everything you need for your holiday can be found in Hawks Nest.
But don'’t take my word for it, have a look yourself and I can insure you that you will love it too. My holiday experience at that place was truly amazing. There's as much to do here and as little as you please, there is plenty of quiet spaces to read a good book if you plan to put your feet up.
Recreation there is unlimited believe me!!!
