No hesitation in returning. We did have an issue with the first assigned room, this was quickly and professionally dealt with, however a drink voucher shouldn’t be restricted to a beer that was $2 less than the one I wanted without an option to chuck in the extra $2 to make up for it, a little disappointed there: $2 really!!! Put a price limit on a drink voucher if required and allow the option to contribute where required. I did enquire with the Day Spa (more than once) well before arriving to surprise my girlfriend as an added treat - online and by phone but no return call and yes they were open so this was the only major negative I can mention.Dinner and breaky in the restaurant were excellent, service was slightly below that. (Comments from a qualified chef)PS: clean your bathroom ceilings.

Dear Simonm1972,

Thank you for your constructive feedback.
I am sorry about the day spa appointment as sometimes our therapists get really busy with treatments.

We hope to see you back soon while enjoying Day Spa as well.
Thanking You.

We spent 2 nights here and we were upgraded. Not sure what the standard room was like but we were very disappointed in some key expectations of all hotels we stay.
1. Definitely in need of a paint job. Badly scuffed doors just made the room look tacky.
2. Only one bedside lamp for a King Bed
3. There were still visible fingerprints all over the coffee table...not clean on arrival or cleaned during our stay. This alone raises concern for the overall cleanliness of the property.
4. One tube of shower gel for 2 people for 2 nights is not adequate. Please get rid of the auto dispensers, they are a haven for germs.
5. Dishwasher in the room. But when serviced, the dishwasher wasn't not started by the cleaners.
6. Breakfast restaurant. On entering there was distinct bad smell of old cooking oil. It was very off putting. Maybe the grease trap or exhaust fans in the kitchen need cleaning or replacement, or both?
7. The Gardens are full of weeds and broken branches and rubbish. Not a good look for a resort.
8. The pools were full of leaf matter and the pool lounge cushions which were half on/ half off the lounges did not change in 2 days.
9. Pillows were just plain awful.
10. Overall, it just feels like the whole place is unloved. Two nights over the weekend cost in excess of $500 (with our AccorPlus privileges) and we feel ripped off. Hated the place. Opted out early to grab breakfast from a local Cafe.
Sorry Accor..whilst this place has loads of potential, it is in dire need of some major TLC. We won't be visiting again any time soon.

Looking for a short break during the school holidays we booked a standard room at the Mercure in Gerringong a week in advance and the booking system was excellent, they collect the money with lightning speed!

On arrival, the ladies at the reception desk were very friendly and professional we got our keys in a very short time. Once in the room, my wife noticed that they had not set up the sofabed as agreed in the booking so she called reception to let them know and as a response, we got upgraded to another room on the second floor with views of the rear of the hotel and a balcony. Nice work from the ladies at the reception desk.
At this stage, we noticed things weren't as good as we initially thought. Dusty shelves and dirty/smelly towels, damage in walls and doors that have not been repaired or have been badly repaired, shower basin rusted, leaking toilet seat, dishwasher not working (a sign was placed from God knows how long). When you lie down in the sofabed you feel wires and is not comfortable and the king size bed is made up of two king single beds!

The children playground area was not kept clean with lots of weeds growing there, the main swimming pool leaks into the parking lot, a light in the swimming pool is dangerously exposed inside the pool, weed is growing everywhere, paint from the walls are peeling or cracking inside the rooms and in corridors, the tennis court has a damaged gate mesh that should be replaced, the grounds have some ducking tape to keep the artificial grass mat together but offer a trip hazard to anybody fool enough to attempt to play tennis there as the ground are full of tree branches, leaves and sand, lots of good gardening effort is needed all around the grounds to eliminate the weeds or simply remove the whole garden areas!

The restaurant was a big disappointment as the full breakfast was not really fresh: sausages were overcooked (dried probably from the previous day) the same as the pastries (perhaps the cheapest and from previous days as they were stale), the bacon rashes were too oily for consumption, the little croissants were dry and stale not from the day, only whole and skim milk no lactose free, bread slices were very thin and the choice of fruit juice were apple and orange only and you pay $30 for a full cooked breakfast; the chairs are due for replacement as well as the tables or at least for a coat of lacquer or paint.

The best of the hotel is the STAFF, who is very attentive, professional and willing to serve you but are not supported by the senior management of the hotel who seems to be counting pennies when the money is required to repair or replace whatever is needed around the hotel.

Room tip: The hotel is staff is very good and professional but the Hotel senior management are letting them down with the lack of interest and efforts

A great little hotel for the quick getaway we had planned. It was an easy and efficient hotel that helped keep things stress free as we sought to relax for a few nights. The Mecure is a great individual apartment style accomodation with spacious rooms, solid kitchen services (in room) and a nice bathroom. The location isn't amazing, but you're 2 minutes drive from the beach, so who can complain really. Wifi is a little temperamental-but that's just a chance to unplug and relax more.

My sister in law had organised a high tea for my niece for her baby shower. Was totally disappointed in the food there was not enough of it 2 towers for 9 people that were sitting at our table, portions were very small and all of it was stale. I had only 3 very small croissant (stale) & glass champagne. My sister even had to ask my daughter for the 2 very small portions of sandwich on her tower as she was still very hungry. For $42@head would have expected a lot more and better class from Mercure it was booked for 12pm lunchtime so our table was starving and had to call into a cafe on the way home. Cant complain about the service the girls were lovely and I think a little bit embarrassed when we asked if there was more food coming.

Dear Kasella2018,

Thank you for your comments regarding the Hig ea experience recently at Bella Char Restaurant. Please accept our sincerest apologies that your experience was not up to the standards we wish to provide for our guests.

Ad a traditional High Taa involves petit fours, sandwiches, tea, wines, and some other small bites, we try to provide an authentic experience rather than making it a lunch portion and take pride in our High Tea as everything is made fresh on the day.

Thanking You.
