LOCATION:
This hotel is on the road to Gerringong if coming from Sydney so quite convenient by road. However, it is on the outskirts of town, and despite the new name "by the sea" don't expect a beachside view or walk, as it's a significant distance from the water. The road to Gerringong from the hotel is also up hill so many would be more likely to drive to go touring around.

Gerringong itself is a nice, little town, that's not far from other South coast attractions and has a range of shops and restaurants to make for a pleasurable weekend away.

FRONT OF HOUSE SERVICE:
Check-in is relaxed, and in a separate reception room rather than being at an obvious front of the hotel. The staff were happy to help, and kept DVDs and video games available for free to borrow from there, as well as tennis racquets for the court. All other staff in the dining room, and cleaners were equally friendly.

ROOMS:
The rooms were modern and comfortable, and well presented. The room had a queen or split twin beds, desk and chair, bedside tables, leather sofa, coffee table, kitchenette and a large LCD tv. All furnishings were nicely matching and in excellent condition.

The bathroom had a bath with shower, full length mirror, basin and toilet, all in good condition and presentation. The shower head was an adequate height. Toiletries were in individual Mercure packets.

There were a few issues here with housekeeping though, presumably one-off. The first was that a lobster was in a plastic bag in the mini-fridge, left from the previous occupants - and getting a bit smelly! Later, in getting in one of the beds, it had not been made properly and we had to remake it as all the sheets were pulled up inside at the bottom. It wasn't crumpled, but the bottom layer had been folded back almost halfway for some reason. And then in the bathroom when we entered there were some really long black hairs that were left in the bath. None of these were major, but could cause disappointment if you were specifically wanting and expecting a 4 star experience.

The tv also needed to be set up to connect the console, rather than being plugged in. Again, not a big deal of itself, but you expect things to be set up ready to go in a place like this, rather than needing to work out which cable needs to connect where and rummage around behind the tv.

AMENITIES:
The resort is 2-3 storey, and moderately spread out, rather than just a single building. At the top end is a very comfortable dining room - newspapers are also there. Nearby is a kids play area, and reception, then the rooms start with a spa at the top of that section, a very nice bar and 2 swimming pools (main, plus toddler) are in the centre. Towards the bottom are the tennis courts and an adults only pool. Note that all pools are outdoors, and none are heated, though the central one is still a very nice and guests relaxed around it even through the temperatures were low.

The car park is around the central area and without extra charge.

DINING: A self-serve breakfast buffet is offered. The selection has a good range of hot and cold items and is again well presented and organised.

OVERALL:
A very nice place to stay, and would normally be 4 star but had a few incidents that would have been disappointing if you specifically went there for 4 star. However, staff and the resort are lovely, and the pool, tennis court and games/DVD facilities are a nice bonus. It's a good place to relax.

We were deilghted with the location, the atmosphere of the grounds and facilities and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff both in the accommodation area and in the dining room on our previous stay. Again the staff have been the stand-out feature for us and made exploring Gerringong and the coast a real pleasure.

Hubby and I live semi close to Gerrigong but booked the night away to get away from the crowds and just relax. It felt as though we were somewhere different!
The hotel is lovely with all the staff being very friendly.
The restaurant, whilst may appear to be expensive to some, was fantastic! For the quality of food served it was well worth the price. We were served for both dinner and breakfast by Kayla, who is very attentive! If I had my own business, I would want kayla working for me!!!
Being winter, we did not use the pool but the hotel has two different pool areas. One for "adults onyl" and the other being a family area which is fantastic! Hotel also has a day spa if you want to indulge! it has everything you could need and I think well worth a trip!
