“Great place for the minority that can hike all day. Not so great for the rest of the population”

Would be better if the fire trail was open for people to drive at least some of the way so that the walks to the breadknife, etc were only a few hours return not 8. Camping grounds were good, with good facilities

Walked the Breadknife and Grand High tops in November.
This is the second time we walked it, and were surprised to find steel stairs over quite a distance. Did not remember this from our last trip, but didn't detract from the quality of the views and only a little from the character of the walk

It's longer than you might think because its so steep uphill and its hot work so plenty of water is absolutely essential.

We walked in November and there were hardly any other people there..maybe saw half a dozen people all afternoon.
It was almost like having the whole place to ourselves.

Really this is a very fine walk. Took over four hours though, but we stopped and smelled the roses and as usual took lots of photos.

The hike to the Grand High Tops is not an easy one, but well worth the effort - breathtaking views from the summit, and lovely scenery and close-up Grey Kangaroos on the way up.

I really enjoyed the lowkey off the beaten track charm/atmosphere of this park. It is the highlight within miles and miles of outback. I did the 4 hour Breadknife trail and the views at the top were fantastic. Met two guys from Australian Geographic who were doing some research, they seemed surprised to meet foreign people here in the park as it's a bit out of the way I guess. Lots of wildlife and birds as well and so quiet when I was there, but the weather was perfect, sunny and 22 degrees or so. Highlight of NSW!
