We (family of four) stayed for a winter getaway, and thought this place was heavenly - huge, beautifully-decorated rooms, big fully-equipped kitchen, all fancy fittings and a pool & spa to boot. The spa was heated, so we were able to jump in there despite the chilly weather. There were outdoor showers (as well as the option of indoor showers), which sounds crazy in winter, but we tried them, and were completely warm! The only thing we found a bit weird were the toilets, which were non-flush, pit toilets, outside in their own little rooms (just a few steps from the rest of the villa). The person who checked us in explained that this was the owners' idea, and that it was to be 'eco-friendly', but considering the huge baths, heated floors, heated spa, etc, I thought this was a bit inconsistent. To be fair, there was no smell at ALL from the toliets, and in summer there would be no issue with the outdoor temperature. There was a heater in each toilet room, but again this seemed to defeat the purpose of being eco-friendly, and we didn't want to run the heaters all day & night.
The villa was very private, and we had no noise at all from any of the other villas.
The town centre (and just past that, the beach) is about 7 minutes' walk away (cut through over the rail line) or one minute or so by car. Byron is full of great places to eat, shops, even some fancy boutique clothing stores have popped up there I noticed!
We had a relaxing time reading on the huge couches, watching movies on the flat-screen telly, eating home-cooked meals or eating out, and walking on the beach and around the 5 km Lighthouse loop walk. By the way, the muffins and cakes up at the cafe at the Lighthouse were really, really good! - unusual for a place where you are a captive customer with no other options.
Overall we loved this gorgeous escape from reality at Villas of Byron

We decided to have a couple of days away from the rat race and The Villas was the perfect place.
This place is a real gem,we spent most of our time in the spa or on the daybed just relaxing, didnt get out and about much except to the markets on our last day.
Even though we came with another couple, having 2 separate huge bedroom areas ment we both had total privacy without having to share .
The staff were really attentive and helpful, even the little water dragon that popped up on the deck every day was obviously use to people and the chilled way of life.
We will be back !

These Villas are amazing - massive, serene, everything you need and more. We stayed with a six month old baby and it was perfect. The Villa (2 bedroom) is huge and combined with the private pool / spa means you can spend the whole holiday there (probably on the day bed!) and never want to leave. Only 10 minutes walk into the town centre too. Our only complaint was that the service was well below the standard of the Villas themselves (service between 10am and 5pm was great but the after hours service, who "greeted" us because it was a public holiday, was unbelievably poor). It's not cheap and my wife wasn't entirely happy with the eco composting toilet (I guess that's what you get for being eco friendly) but if the service improved it would be perfect.

We decided to spend our honey moon at the villas and had the best time we could have ever imagined.
We arrived to an amazing welcome with a bottle of Chandon in the fridge plus a gift pack with yummy byron treats, love the bliss balls!
It was like stepping into paradise so private and relaxing, the complimentary organic donnuts that where delivered to the villa for valentines day was such a surprise.
Thank you Julie & Amy for making our stay one that we will always remember,we will be back soon.

My husband booked this 'luxury' accommodation for me as a surprise. We were both very surprised to discover that there was NO TOILET IN THE VILLA! In an effort to be environmentally friendly there is a composting toilet located in an adjacent building. The crazy thing is that this building is fully plumbed and even has a bidet that wastes heaps of water! On the first night the path (which includes stairs) between our bedroom and the toilet facilities was not lit as the light had blown. The toilet building is open-air so I would not recommend this accommodation for anyone who does not enjoy being mosquito food. I have yet to find this vital information on the website for the Villas.
I think for the price an indoor toilet is a must. Composting toilets are not very romantic and you should not discover this issue after arrival, searching for the flush button!
We also had some problems with the fancy audio/TV/ipod system. It was not working when we arrived and then a couple of days later it stopped working again.
Response by staff was OK (light globe was replaced and electronic equipment re-booted). No-one was surprised about the electronic equipment breakdown it seemed to be a frequent occurrence.
Beach is 15min walk away at least

Aaaahh, the heated plunge pool, the spa and the day bed - need i say more. This place was great for an unwind after Christmas. It is quite pricey but all the facilities listed above are yours and yours only!! Were a little disappointed that washing machine and dishwasher were not working when we got there (we were at the end of a 4 week trip and a bit smelly by then!). It was evantually fixed 3 days later but for the price you pay, they should have been more prompt. It is a bit of walk to town, 10 - 15minutes but would stay there again if I save enough moolah!
